Knee-jerk reactions like this is why gaming these days is all about EA or Ubi crap. One wrong step as an independent publisher (after years of delivering quality titles*) and you're done.

*Witcher games were traditionally glitchy on release, but CDPR worked on and gave us Enhanced Editions for free.

Not sure CDPR made "one wrong step" when they lie multiple times about game development, wasting dev resources on fake trailer, throwing QA team under the bus for management failures, etc...

One wrong step: they didn't manage Cyberpunk properly.

Benchmark Scores They're pretty good, nothing crazy.
But managing something like Cyberpunk is 1320498157 steps over 9 years -- so they basically mismanaged consistently for almost a decade. Which, yep, that will tank your stock -- Ask Intel.

This is a major part of the problem for CDPR (and not picking on you in particular) but CDPR said they are making a Cyberpunk game and the entire gaming community said "great it will be a cyperpunk witcher game kind of like Rockstar does with red dead redemption and GTA". Obviously when that did not happen the gaming community had a hissy fit. Glitches and development issues aside, the game should be judged as a stand alone game and not against another IP from the development studio.

So you mean like every other developer, movie studio, music publisher out there?

IMHO, its simply a exceedingly meh game especially for its hype and development length even if ignoring the bugs.

What hype? Besides the game being worked on and that trailer that I looked at for years, CDPR has promoted very little about the game itself.
The public did everything else.

I am not disputing any of that. I was just saying, if we want something like the Witcher series again from CDPR, maybe we shouldn't just burn them to the stake for Cyberpunk. That's all.

There is a simple solution to the ongoing problem with the state of games at launch in general. Don't buy at launch. Wait until the game has been patched and polished and get the best gaming experience the first playthrough and probably for less money.

CP2077 was the first and last game I've ever preordered.

It's also made me hesitant to buy new games in general.

I will not pay full price for new games either, especially since the industry wants to make $70 the norm.

Thanks, CDPR. At least GOG is still a great place to get games...

CP2077 was one of the best games I've ever played...

...because convinced me to finally start finishing some of the more neglected titles in my library. :D

Indeed, the guy literally asking for free shit for a dumb decision like preordering at launch (for anything really)

It won't hit them that hard unless they own a lot of their own stock. Cyberpunk 2077 did sell around 18 million copies and CDPR has said that they only did 30,000 refunds so far so they have plenty of money for now. There's probably a lot more refunds now though. Those 30,000 refunds were based on the 8 million pre-orders of the game.

I think they have a good shot at regaining most of their former status if they do a good job on the next Witcher game but I also believe that they won't be able to return to their glory days. That is probably over permanently.
Good to hear

This came as a bit of a surprise to me but in addition to the expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 there will also be a full sequel. The sequel is code named Orion. I hope CDPR handles the launch better with the sequel than they did with Cyberpunk 2077.

Guess it will be rehashed CP2077 + multiplayer. :p What it should have been from the start. But they couldn't get it done before shoving it out of the door.

Neither the first nor the second Witcher game was polished out the door. They both went on to become some of the greatest RPG titles ever.
It seems to be how they do things at CDPR.

Are there anymore confirmed big patches incoming to polish CP2077 though? I was under the impression the 1.6 update was the last big one... but it still needs more polish than that.

They are updated the RT to the point it might as well be path traced at least with the lighting and adding DLSS 3.0 not sure if you count that as major but I'm guessing it requires a decent amount of work.

Needing a 40 series gpu to run it at acceptable framates puts a big damper on it I guess.

Yeah CDPR's mismanagement with CP2077 revealed there is no honesty in the AAA gaming industry, every publisher is just as greedy as the other LOL.

Yeah, it's a real shame as i bet a lot of people trusted\ had faith in them more than most and bs'ed CP2077, all that effort too then they burn everyone.

Trust was earned if they can get it back, is another question.

It depends on how you set your expectations. It's their first console title and they wanted it available simultaneously with the PC release. Everyone with half a brain could see that was a tall order for a company the size of CDPR.

Be that as it may, I think CP2077 was a problem only for people obsessed with playing games on day 1. Which is a pretty bad choice for most titles anyway.

Yes they tried to do too much at one time and should of delayed the console release, i say console as they have always been more PC related.

I did not get it on release, well still haven't got CP2077 might not ever do sadly. I was looking forward of the release of CP2077 and they released it 1/2 baked which was a surprise but as you said they took to much on.

In fact them still not having it ready still today it was just to much for them even if it was just PC, it been 2 years now ?. Then they had the nerve to have a PC sale granted it was $30 but it was much cheaper on the console at the time of sales.

It's actually a solid game, I started playing it about two months ago when I got it on sale.

Not if you don't finish making either of them and release it, just gives you a bad rep.

But as i said they know more about PC gaming than console so that should of been worked on before console and if the witcher was console 1st then i would of said they should of done it on that 1st but it's not were most of there skills are at.

Now they have a bad rep and pretty much destroyed what they build over many years.

like virtually every other AAA game that launches?

doesn't matter, shareholders see a ton of cash being spent they want revenue coming in ASAP hence console sales are needed

Now they have a bad rep and pretty much destroyed what they build over many years.
yes on the former but I wouldn't agree on the latter, they are making the Witcher 4 now so they will be giving the audience what they want and the audience may get what they deserve... I won't fault CDred for trying to create another IP, will fault them for biting off more than they can chew. The gaming industry needs more new IPs and while gamers keep clamoring for something "new" they keep buying games with another "number" tacked onto them and complain about lack of creativity.

I did not get it on release, well still haven't got CP2077 might not ever do sadly. I was looking forward of the release of CP2077 and they released it 1/2 baked which was a surprise but as you said they took to much on.

I'll wait till they release the "Cyberpunk 2077 : Game of the Year Edition", or however they'll call it. On sale, including all DLC's & patches.

It's not a multiplayer game, so crumbling player numbers is a non issue. Get it later, better experience at a way lower cost. :D
