Hey guys, i know you guys are reliable and i am planning to get an ASROCK 755 DUAL, just asking if there is another better alternative thats CHEAP. (note ASROCK 755 Dual has 8x AGP as well as 16x PCI-E, Dual channel RAM and conroe support)
Features it must have:
-Support for Conroe
-16x PCI-E
-Decent integrated sound
-Dual Channel RAM

4x PCIe isn't that limiting. And if you really think that you need 16x you should be willing to invest. Nowadays the onboard soundcards are just fine for most users, so that shouldn't be an issue and I don't think there are single channel chipsets for Conroe.
I would say that besides the overclocking options the Asrock boards aren't that bad of a choice.

I think the cheapest ASUS conroe board with full 16X PCIE is the P5B, which is a little bit too expensive. I'll look for the Gigabyte P965 S3 if I were you, a lot cheaper but still highly ocable and has all the latest features.

I just sold a Celeron D 478 for $25 AUD It's warranty has expired as well as it's cooler, cos i literally smashed it on purpose after removal (VRIIHIIIIIRRRRMMMMM!!!!, you get the point).

Should i use the 20GB hdd to build another PC after i upgrade?

let me get something straght....

i have an asrock 775dual vista. it does have a pcie x16 slot, however it has the bandwith of a 4x slot. and it makes almost no differnce in perfomance.

I realised... now i have heaps of money left to get a conroe.

Anyways, the results of the motherboard's performance is only like 1% away from the P5W.

And a 7800GT's performance would not bottleneck (im getting a 7300GT anyways)

EDIT: by the way man, is your GPU stable? Does volt modding work for the 9550?
