So I may be becoming a bother to the forums but I just really want an awesome first rig....
I've waited more than a year for this rig and I just want it to be awesome.

So currently I have two options:

(note: All these options are unsing an Antec ONE case, with a Kboard & Mouse combo, and a Liteon DVD combo drive

And also they all sum up to nearly $750 converted from PHP 33000 )

The i5 rig:
Core i5 - 3470
MSI H77MA-g43
G.Skill Ripjaws 8GB
Inno 3D GTX 560
Corsair TX650M
500gb HDD

The i3 Rig:
Core i3 - 3220
MSI H77MA-G43
G.Skill Ripjaws 8gb
EVGA GTX 660 ( OMG )
Huntkey Jumper Modular 550w
500gb HDD

This rig will be my primary rig (mostly for gaming, some lite 3D rendering for college and browsing...)

I kinda want to get more GPU since I'm saving for a new monitor (a 1600x900 one, from the current 1366x768. Not going 1080) But I might lose on some productivity marks...

Which one should I get, and If better, maybe I can get a AMD rig? Any help would be appreciated, especially from my fellow Filipino brothers (i'm buying from PCX, can't change that)

THANKS GUYS TPU IS GREAT

EDIT: I'll be getting this rig FOR SURE this december..... So hopefully there might be price drops or sales that would happen

I would get the i5 rig over the i3. If you want more oomph, maybe look at a 7850/70 instead of the 560. The i3 isnt a bad deal either, but that Huntkey PSU is the low point of that build.

Well I was supposed to get an i3 at first, until I agreed with my mom that budget would be $750 as long as I get it for my B-day.

I've read a review on this particular model http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/989/ and it looks like it can pull 650w (even up to 700w at its peak :O ) but its a huntkey. I can also get an Antec NEO ECO 520w for a much cheaper price. I'm just looking for PSU around the 500w~600w range and there's not a lot to choose from here

EDIT: I could also get an AsRock H77M (cheaper than the MSI) and get a better PSU. But I'm not sure about that since the PCI legacy are taller than the PCIe slots. I'm afraid that the card might not fully insert to the slot :|

Ok so this is my current PSU choices for the i3 rig:

FSP Epsilon Series 80PLUS SLI (600w)
FSP AURUM Series 80+ GOLD (500w)
CoolerMaster GX Series 550w
Silverstone ST50F 500w

and maybe:
Silverstone ST60F 600w

So which is better?

Well I decided to stick with the i3 rig since I don't need that much CPU power (plus helps the electricity bills from going sky high) and also I could just upgrade to a i5 in later years (depending on the situation

I also changed the PSU to an FSP Aurum GOLD 500w

Hey uh guys,

I was able to squeeze in the Core i5 -2300, and changed the PSU to an Antec Neo ECO 520w

Is that considerably better?

^ Antec PSU is ok..

you still have a few weeks to go before the purchase and enough time to optimize choices for your needs.. i5 is the way to go if have decided on intel and for your budget it can just fit but will narrow your options..

i presume you already have a case & OS?

I am not sure the price of i5-2xxx in PHP.. so I am posting the config I squeezed into your 33K budget.. not intended to be the final, but I believe is a good one overall..

core i5-3450 3.1-3.5Ghz - 8000
Asrock Z77 PRO 3 - 6200
Gainward GTX 660 2gb/192bit ddr5 - 10000
G.Skill RipJaws X (Dual) 2x4gb ddr3 1600 CL8 (F3 12800CL8D 8GBXM) -2700
Seasonic (M12II) 520W 80PLUS Bronze - 3100
Hitachi Deskstar 500gb (???rpm) - 2700

TOTAL : 32700

I prefer Seasonic psus... But if the antec 520W is a better deal then its your choice.. and I assume(hope) the deskstar is 7Krpm speed.. For all the above components I looked up PC Hub price list except for the AsRock Z77Pro3, which is listed by PC Configure's list

Thanks for the reply!

The problem is with PC Hub (here in the Phil) is that they only show the price when you pay in cash... my mom plans to pay using her credit card (12 mos). The price of that i5 using credit is around PHP 9500 ($220) and that's too much.

I'm planning on buying from http://pcx.com.ph/ since it might be a tad overpriced compared to PC Hub, at least I get to see how much I'm paying (doesn't matter if it's cash or credit, they're both the same in PC express). That i5 is around PHP 8,300; only PHP 300 more than the i5 in PC Hub.
(also the board you listed isn't available in PCX :C )

So far I've managed to squeeze the PHP 33000 margin with all the things I want. Here it is;

Core i5-2300 ~ PHP 7800
G.Skill Ripjaws 8GB 1333mhz ~ PHP 1,800
MSI H77MA-G43 ~ PHP 4,300
EVGA GTX 660 SC ~ PHP 11,200
Antec Neo ECO 520w ~PHP 2,200
Lite-On Combo Drive ~ PHP 870
500GB WD Green ~ PHP 2,500
Fractal Design Core 1000 ~ PHP 1,550
Logitech MK100 ~ PHP 480

TOTAL : PHP 32,700

I'm kinda happy that it worked out. my mom might get suspicious about the EVGA card (since its more pricy compared to the processor... need to think of why.... )

Is the build good enough? For some gaming, some video editing, 3d modeling, Photoshop and net browsing?

why? because its a higher end gfx card whereas the CPU is mid range. but paired together you should have a very capable machine :D

Yeah well Figured I didn't need Ivy Bridge anyway. SB is more than enough for what i'm planning to do...

Oh well now all I have to do is wait until Christmas...

EDIT: OR tinker around with AMD parts...

So after a lot of thinking I decided to try and tinker around with AMD parts.

AMD FX-6100
MSI 880GMS-E41FX
G.Skill Ripjaws 8GB (4x2) 1333
EVGA GTX 660 SC
Antec Neo ECO 520w
Lite-On Combo Drive
500GB WD Green
Fractal Design Core 1000
Logitech MK100

This build is cheaper compared to the i5 one.

Am I doing it right?

Hey guys!

It turns out the store was known for very bad customer service, and they don't update their site as often as they should :| I was pissed and thought I may never get it (Damn Philippine PC shops...)

My mom then suggested that since a friend of hers is coming back from the US, I would just buy a pre-built PC or the parts then have it shipped to my mom's friend, the she would bring it to the phil.

Now I'm stumped..... I don't know If I should buy here or just pick the parts/pre-built pc from the US. I kinda want to get the same setup with the same budget....

So here's me saying what build is good for around $820.... ( I want to get the EVGA GTX 660, so $230 is off) so now what build is good for around $590 (this includes the case, PSU, DVD/CD drive or simple the whole CPU itself..)

EDIT: So yeah I'm sticking with buying from the US..... anyone knows any good site like Ibuypower except cheaper?

I really appreciate the help guys........ thanks for being so patient with a noob like me :C

I'm not too sure how well parts will go through transit via aircraft.

Well, to be honest I'm not gonna OC and the 7850 I heard is a great OC'er. Plus power consumption comes into play too and from the review I've read the 660 is great. I would get me a 7870 or 7850 if they were any cheaper

Well wether they OC well doesnt mean u have to do it you know. That just means they have the room to do it. Plus if you decide you would like to ,,you can down the road.

plus you could get a 1Gb 7850 and cut like 20-30 dollars off the price,,,I run a 1 Gb 6950 and I can play BF3 on ultra settings @ High Frame Rates,,,Food for thought

Yes do research ,,thats very good. Also I recommend buying when the price is best. For example I would get that GPU asap,,,you get three Free Games with that One I just Linked @ $209.00!! hard to beat that , plus you could sell them and get some of your $$ back.

Wow learn how to edit your posts instead of multiple ones which go against forum rules, no offence.

Use the edit button, you violated the forum rules more times than I can count on one hand in this thread. If no one has posted yet, use the edit button. I'm not saying this to be a dick, I'm saying this because a moderator is going to crack down on you if you don't stop.

@jboydgolfer : Use the edit button to add to your posts and stop triple, quadruples, etc. posting.
It doesn't matter if the posts are in reference to more than one thing, make note of that in a single post.
