Clean but high temperature's.

Just like the title say's really my rig was over due a clean for awhile but I got around to it last week CPU and motherboard temps drops back to "normal" but my graphics card just doesn't know what to do, since it's been cleaned the temps haven't been stable at all, temps raise and lower one day to the next.

Your probably think that's pretty normal which yes it can be but that's usually within just a couple of degree's which isn't the case for me, for example yesterday was a somewhat warmer day in general and yet my card idle'd around 30 - 32 (which is around normal for when I'm doing the usual thing's) which isn't the case today it's a little cooler and my card is reaching 38 - 39.

I can't see why cleaning it wouldn't of helped? I've done it many of times without issue's.

FYI: I've not removed the heatsink for awhile, the last time was around a year ago when I applied some MX-4 but that should be fine for awhile longer also checked for dust build up in places an the likes of but no such problem there.

This is weird!
Huh?
When you cleaned you pc the temps of MM and CPU are at normal but GPU seems to be unstable!
Is this what you mean!?

Pretty much yes, GPU temps seem to vairy despite the weather/heating conditions even though I can be doing the exact same thing (idling at desktop).

Read this [thread=168565]thread[/thread]([post=2668945]Specially JP's post[/post]) and you will know what is the mean of fan curve

Did you clean the card with air?
If you did, you did not over spin the fan hopefully.
Use some software to slowly increase and decrease the fans speed, while paying attention to its operation and any odd/off sounds.

Try to copy JP's curves and report the result here!

I have the same curve setup as JP now but it's made no difference, I'm going with that my auto fan was somewhat similar to JP's manual set.

I cleaned with air, overspin? Why have I never come across this before :ohwell:

The fan does seem to be a little out of tune every now and again, like I can hear it change pitch without no change in fan speed.

Sounds like my fan is dying then huh, it's a stock cooler... is it possible to replace the fan alone?

Compressed air comes out super fast, when you shoot it at a fan without holding the fan still you spin the fan way beyond it's rated specifications and it wobbles as it spins due to the kinectic energy is coming from one side of it rather than the centre.

You should be able to replace a stock fan easily : ]

Although I'd have to say don' worry about idle temps, at all.

Only load temps are important.

I do try not to let the fans spin but it's also something not on my list of "must do's" either.

In game temps seem to be fine, back to 58 or thereabouts for the common games I play, I watch TV onlline more so than some an the speed the fan has to spin at is quite annoying.

I may just keep tabs out for an aftermarket cooler.

I might be able to help you out with that, depends if I can sell my 460 without a s heatsink XD

Got one of these http://www.pccooler.cn/en/show.php?id=481

Performs better than a Twin Turbo Pro ( On nvidia cards anyway, AMD cards don't use all the heatpipes) by about 10 degrees or so.

Look's great! Black is also what I'd preffer so that's a bonus, obviously just speculating at the moment but roughly what would you be asking for it?

£20 or so I guess? (depends on postage if its anymore)( Will cost you £34 to get a new one, but you'll have to wait 3 weeks for delivery!)

It unfortunately has no Ram heatsinks.

I've got some I could send with it but they all need new tape!

I'll also throw in either a aluminum or copper shim ( for cooling the ram underneath the heat-pipes, unless you've got some thermal pads spare : ])

Here's a picture

The craziness by the heat pipes is the aluminum shim, it stuck out a wee bit so I covered it in Ram sinks! ( which lowered temperatures even more ha ha)

Ghetto : ]
