The worst I have ever seen is on old mac G4s that had an intake right down in front near the floor that would suck up so much dust it would literally form into a sheet like you pull out of your clothes dryer lint trap.

Next time I clean my fan filters on my Lancool I'll take a picture first.

I have to clean them every 2-3 weeks because they quickly get completely covered, like lint traps in a drier, thanks to my 4 dogs that like to lay around worshipping the great warm box.

Yeah, that is exactly how my filters get. Cleaning them will give me a 15-20°C temp drop on my GTX470 when folding depending on how bad I let them get. With clean filters the GTX470 will sit at about 70°C under load, with dirty filters it will climb to 90°C easily. But I usually clean them when I start to notice temps in the 80s, that is usually my sign it is time to pull them out and clean them.

My cat does the exact same thing! I started thinking it was the cats passive aggressive way of ruining my PC so I would pay more attention to her...actually that sounds like my GF. No wonder I keep finding long black hair wrapped around the fan spindles.

just because its a big box doesnt mean it should be left on the floor, yes its convienient to have it out of the way but you guys should try putting it up on the desk and you wont believe how much cleaner it stays and cooler it runs because of it.

I would leave it on my desk but my 3 monitors have said otherwise. I'd rather have a computer on a floor than the right third of my screen lol.

Yeah and mine's too nice looking to be on the floor out of view as well :)

Well it will be soon once again. Waiting on some new fans before I tidy up and close her up again.

Thanks very much... yes it was just a misunderstanding. So far I've really enjoyed things here and I'm learning a ton from these "hardware enthusiasts" :)

It doesn't really matter where I put my computer. I vacumm and dust the bedroom the computer is in once a week, if I put the computer on my desk I have to clean the fan filters every 3-4 weeks, with it on the floor it is every 2-3 weeks. Either way, the inside stays dust free anyway. I'll leave it on the floor since it is more convienient.

Grungy PC? I didn't realize my computer was wearing a cardigan.

If I overclock it up will it sound like punk music?

/obscure?

For whatever reason this made me laugh hysterically. I imagined someone posting, "Tech Power DOWN bitch!". :D
