CMOS battery

Is there any need to routinely replace a cmos battery ?
Can you tell ( via software) if it needs replacement ? or are there any symptoms ?
Does a mobo "recharge" a cmos battery ?

just symptoms, like bios cant remember your setting, your date bios back to first again
but the battery usually last long, more than 3 years, but if you have symptoms just replace it and set your bios again and you done

Turn your system off by the PSU and if the bios forgets the settings chances are it's the cmos battery, battery normally last years a long time as the psu is typically left on and no they are not normally rechargeable.

A defective motherboard can cause a battery to last as little as 14 days. A good motherboard and a good battery can go unrelated for a decade or more.

They are not rechargeable. They can last so long because the rate the motherboard draws from it is supposed to be extremely low.
