That's the thing I hear a lot of people complaining about...really it's a small issue..the only reason it's an issue is because of the fact they decided to give a ranking/achievement system in the MP aspect of the game...everyone expected/or ASSumed (Including myself) that their servers would save your info. Hell I lost many hours when I lost my profile info after re-installing the game after a fresh windows install...a quick google, some info and knowlege gained, problem solved...takes 20 seconds or so to make a zip of the Player folder...do that every once in a while and you're good imo. A little more reading/info acquiring can lead to a lot of saved headaches anymore imo...and lessons like this that are learned are rarely needed to be re-learned.

It's a great game, and has a lot of good players, there are some things I dislike, but a lot more that I enjoyed that more than make up for this small issue imo.

and yes after my COD4 mishap i literally have all my game file backed up in 4 diff places

The thing I really noticed is, after LV20, the guns aren't really that much better...there's decent balance between most weapons, giving the user a preference of what they like to use instead of using a weapon everyone else is spamming. The M4, AK47, AK74u, G3 and P90 are on my top 10 list, but really...even the guns you start out with in MP aren't bad or even "the worst" by any means...sure some guns take more skills or different strategies to use, but in reality from my experience, there's no "best gun" imo...which to me is a very good thing, and about time imo! I liked the aspect of getting more guns to play with, different camo for them, scopes, red-dot sights, silencers, extra bonuses for leveling up, it made the game very addictive for quite a while for me, even with most of the stuff completed, and my level being maxed out for quite some time...I still find the game enjoyable to play, in the end a game isn't a game for anyone if they can't find it fun or enjoyable, no matter the reason.

getting all teh little unlockables really did hook me to especially at lans when i was one of the first to unlock some of the higher tier and cooler stuff, great fun i loved the p90 and the g36 is one of my favs but if i remember i took a long ass time to get a sniper rifle and since that is almost my fav aspect of most games is being the asshole that shot you from across the map (except css) that was a downer but that just made me work harder and faster to level up but once i got the semi auto sniper and a nice pistol it was a blast, and btw martyrdom is awesome tbh i bet that would be my second game of choice online right now(behind tf2) if i didn't loose all my stuff (btw did anybody beat the very very last level in the campaign on very hard, i cant friggin do it i know how you go about it i just cant quite pull it off) i really have no drive to go through all that again to get my stuff back

i have a the Fixed MP so i dont need the dumb disk in, works fine online course i have a Retail game.

I've never needed the disc to play MP...never installed a "fix" or "no-cd patch" to do so, maybe I haven't been on enough servers that needed authorization maybe?

you think you have problems lol ive had to spend £70 thats $140 buying the game twice because my cd key got stolen and banned on the first one i got dont like the idea of the cd key been stored in the game tbh you never know what dodgy software a server maybe running and punkbuster and activision deosnt really care.I wasnt even on the net when it happend i was offline for 2 weeks due to my mobo failing i had to wait to buy a new one.Once i got back online and installed the game every so often i kept getting "error cd key already in use" everytime i tried to join a server punkbuster and activision said it was a game bug? try to relaunch.Well turns out it wasnt my cdkey was stolen and used and banned.Even though they had logs of me reporting this error they refused to help me and said all you can do is buy the game again!! rip off or what.

p.s. i havent installed my new one yet im waiting to see if this is a growing problem that can be fixed before i risk it again.

i think u sucks, u know why i have played it out in 3 hours and i still like it i run my own clan DragonForce Clan Germany and i run my own server ranked & dedicated there is allways whinners like u if u dont like the game why did u buy it at all go suck on a lollipop or so and let the rest in peace cod4 is the most played game in this time

atm i lost most if not all hope for cod5, mainly because of whos making it

heres an update:

by grinding over a few days im back up to level 25, hoping to be 30 or so by tomorrow night. I just wish there was atleast a warning in the manual that explained how re installs would require profiles being backed up. Not one to grumble though, seeing as my kill to death is now healthier than before

Oh and the banter seems nice. glad to have created somewhere for us to share a common interest must say im back to enjoying the game again.

i just sold my copy of CoD4 on ebay ,the multi was a complete and utter waste of time ,i know ppl camp to some degree ,but ppl sitting there without moving from the spot map after map with a sniper rifle..BORING as hell and ruins the game for every1 else imo.

i mean hth can any1 have fun doing that for a couple of hours?

the single player is excellent and the gfx are amazing ,but the multiplayer is a serious let down imho.

thats why you go on a server with a mod that causes Green Farts to occur, it prevents them from camping.
