CoD ww2 fps drops with gtx 1080

The game runs around 100 fps or more but my fps frequently drops to like 50 for half a second, overall its not very smooth. I play at 1080p everything on max. My cpu is i5 3570K stock, RAM is 8gb 1600 MHz, Windows 7 64 bit. In Afterburner cpu percentage goes often to 98 to 100 percent, ram usage is around 7800 mb, gpu is at around 50 to 60 percent with up to 8000 mb vram used. What could be the cause of fps drops, is it ram of vram or cpu?

As said above those drops are from the RAM usage. Tell us what are your specs including the motherboard and CPU cooler, or better fill your system specs.

Looks like a cpu/mobo upgrade is due. 8600K will be a massive upgrade for a GTX1080 at 1080p.

And what about vram? It uses up to 8 gb of vram, at least thats what Afterburner shows. Coudnt it be that besides ram the cause of fps drops?

If I was you, first off (before spending any money) I would turn on Vsink ,because there's no point in rendering 100 FPS unless your monitor has a refresh rate of atleast 100hz. If its 60hz, then turn vsync on, & cap it at 60 fps.

Second, I would advise that you keep in mind this game was released two days ago and it's never a bad idea to allow GPU manufacturers a couple weeks to release drivers that may help optimize or resolve any issues with new games.

Overclocking the CPU is great and it definitely adds life but the first two choices I would say are you're better options . Or you could do the first two suggestions and overclock your CPU

It has nothing to do with how much VRAM is used. According to W1zzard's performance analysis, the game makes use of as much VRAM as is available (at up to 8 GB) - cards with less aren't adversely affected solely because there is less.

In my experience ram used to almost max, cause framedrops and stutters. Had this with FO4 which played smooth but had the occasional hickup. That went away when I upgraded to 16GB Ram.
Btw I have no drops with my current rig, but play it with vsync on for sp, as already suggested before. It will reduce framedrops if there are any.

If lack of RAM causes stutters isnt the same with lack of vram if for example a game uses all 8 gb in my case?

Don't know , reading the steam reviews apparently the game has massive performance issues. I'd say wait for some patches or something , before upgrading.

CoD Black Ops III was notorious for bad performance regardless of hardware used but as time passed on , with patches, it improved quite a lot.

you need 16gb of ram remember that consoles have access to at least 5 or 6GB

the vram reading isn't accurate with AW/WW2 do to how the engine caches assets

Get off the thought of the gpu,

Your system is using the paging file which is not good for games,

Get more ram and overclock the cpu

The chances of you using more VRAM than that video card has at 1080p, are about the same as you going to the moon tonight. This issue you're having has been properly addressed multiple times in this thread already. The game was released two days ago , so set it to vsync, and wait a week or two until optimization patches are released. Also more system ram would not be a bad idea. The GPU you are running is one of the best available on the market, if you're under the impression that somehow you've managed (at 1080p) to make it perform like its obsolete, you're incorrect. Not to mention there's nothing you could do if it was vram(you can't add VRAM)unless you buy a new GPU

Whatever you do OP don't turn Vsync on. KEEP VSYNC OFF. Vsync is the players worst enemy in competitive shooters.
If you have an Nvidia GPU you can download Nvidia Inspector and set the Framerate Limiter to whatever your monitor is. 100fps for 100Hz monitors and 60fps for 60Hz screens. Keep Vsync off it will cause a ton of mouse lag. Inspector FTW.

No. Nvidia's drivers don't allow that to happen. The suttering is from a lack of system RAM. You're playing the game with the minimum amount of RAM which is usually reserved for minimal systems using less intensive options for the game. Get the recommended amount, which would be 16GB for your system.

Bump the graphics down a notch and check then. I've had two scenarios:
1) Default settings with some tweaking, ultra/high - perfectly smooth 60+ FPS (80-90ish)
2) Had FPS to spare, so went with mostly ultra settings, still at 60+, but did get drops in some situations, my hunch is lighting effects did this.

I'm on 16Gb, encounter hitching only on loading screens when the campaign videos are playing which pegs the CPU at 100%. Anyways, the difference between ultra/high is really hard to spot, at least on 1080p, if slightly worse quality settings don't help, OC and then get some extra RAM.
