Its a hard choice but im going with CoD4. because it was the start to what cod online is now. It was far more balanced then bo and mw2, better maps by far( they are a bit bigger as well) and doesn't have those bull shit dual shot guns

Easy choice. CoD BO blows...if you compare launches...we can start with Demos. CoD 4 had a demo released around a month prior to the game release, +1 CoD4. The day CoD4 launched the MP experience was solid for me and all my friends, our server was easily found in the server browser...CoD4 +2. The SP was worth playing and was memorable, CoD4 +1. The mod support and dedicated server support both were true to PC utilizations, CoD4 + 1,000,000.

Honestly if I could find a way to refund the waste of $60 I spent on Black Ops I would...that game made it 2 weeks. I still play CoD4 and I have since launch day. CoD4 is the better action shooter, sure it's age is showing, and what we expected of PC games that it provided is also quickly fading. CoD BO is a failure and should've stayed on consoles imho. It's an OK game at best, not great, not 9/10, not A+, it's a mediocre console port that barely works on PC well enough to make a few hundred thousand sales in a dwindelling market for big game devs. Bring on the Indie devs!

As much of an improvement BO is over MW2, COD4 is still superior. It just runs way smoother and is the most balanced of the recent CODs. Posting here makes me want to play it again >.<

Cod4.

two reasons.

1. everyone i know is already bored with black ops, yet CoD4 lasted years.

2. Cod4 still has quite a following at LANs, black ops... well, no LAN.

so one game still gets played years after release, ones dying off already (at least in PC gaming circles)

Black Ops was my least favorite, I played it for about 12 hours and quit because playing was so pointless. Definitely CoD 4, it was much more fun, balanced, and the single-player was great.

Not sure why you're even bumping, seems even with the results atm that CoD 4 is the obvious winner....which honestly to most gamers who went through the experience is an obvious choice. At 17 - 5 on your poll not sure what more you can ask for...

IMO:

cod mw2 and cod BO should have been $20 expansion sets like the good old days. they are certinaly little more than expansions, the same gameplay and engine just new maps and guns.

I just went back and started paying the original Call of Duty. The funny part is I had more fun playing it than I did Black Ops!

Treyarch doesn't have a development team the size of Ubisoft Montreal. i'm sure they did the best they could with the small window they had. Activision isn't going to hire another dev team to port the PC version when 4 million people download it illegaly.

wow, it's really not that solid of a choice for me.

I didn't like CoD4 as much.

I don't think the price, a release of a demo, etc should
have ANY bearing on the quality of the GAME itself.

i played them both about 20-30 hours online, no SP
- and enjoyed them both about the same. I don't
care how long either lasted, as i got bored with both
after about the same amount of time.

but BO has perfected the addiction, and made it so you practically level something
up every round - and while i don't care at all about rank or achievements, getting
something new or leveling every 15 minutes made it seem like it had more to it,
even if it didn't. i enjoyed that.

Which is my fav?

CoD 4, which do I actually still play Black Ops.

CoD 4 is dead as far as the LAN scene goes in Souther California, I don't even have it installed anymore. As far as which is the best, well that's far too borad of a question, best at what, and how are you judging why it's the best?

Benchmark Scores I only care about practical performance.
I haven't tried BO, so I wont vote. However I always found CoD 4 to be the best. Last CoD I played was MW2, and it was also when I stopped playing CoD. Looking at the votes though, CoD 4 seems to be king still :) :)
And in case anyone is wondering, I found the aerial support getting worse and worse. It was also the only thing wrong with CoD 4.

There's no point in being objective when talking about the same series you know.. Just know that with every game they try to make it better. I felt MW2 was a lot worse than CoD for reasons stated above..

COD4, Start of the Modern Warfare Series and was truly EPIC.

But if your Cousin is interested in Online then COD:BO because the COD4 servers are pretty much dead and almost every one has switched to BO for online. :)

I dont think there will ever be another CoD game that will totally eclipse the epicness of MW1. I still rate CoD1:United Offence quite highly, CoD1 is just as good as MW1. when MW1 came out i swear i didnt sleep for like 2 weeks, I was totally glued to my PC playing that game.

on a side note.

CoD:World At War - Even though it wasnt as popular as MW1 and not many people picked up the game. despite that though. the game play was great - maps were good though when they said there was going to be vehicles ingame i did expect more then just 2 tanks on less then 3 maps, So i was initially dissapointed with that. but once i got over it, it played just fine. had a lot of fun, but some how it was as awesome in MW1 - MW1 really set the standard. World At War fell a tiny bit short of the mark. Even though its not as gripping as MW1 (I shed a tear when Capt Price supposedly died - it felt like id just lost my best friend) online play was just as good as MW1 but without the modern weapons.

So World At War does deserve some credit.
