Coilwhine free gpu

Coilwhine, how annoying, my msi gtx 1060 gaming x 6gb had apparently no coilwhine, so no doubt my gtx 1080 is gonna be the samme card, it turns out it had coilwhine, did listen more intense to my gtx 1060 , did it also have some, yes, but nothing i ever noticed (5-6 month).

So i rma'ed my gtx 1080 because yo can do that if it has coilwhine and hope for the next one to arrived in 2 day not to have it, i do not like it for that price (live in europe where prices are a little higher compared to usa) to have coilwhine when i can hear it and certainly not from a premium gpu as the msi gaming x is.

Some of my other gpu's had it but not to bad, my asus gtx 980 strix (the one that looks lihe an owl) i had for 2 years and it did have it a bit.

Is it really that hard to get a gpu that is coilwhine free?

I think my evga gtx 1070 sc i had for a few month was ok, it's just isn't as silent as a evga gtx 960 4gb sc, msi gtx 960 4gb (also gaming x),1060 6gb and 1080

I do play cs:go and dirt 3 is easy for a gtx 1080 even when fps is not that great,higher compared to a gtx 1060 6gb i noticed it had coilwhine.

Not that my ryzen 1600 3.9ghz 3200mhz cl 14 is a slow cpu, i just expected a bit more fps, it felt like it was the same with dirt 3 with both gpu's.

Also have weak coilwhine from my psu for my cheap hp printer that i can hear, luckily i don't use it that often so i can live with it.

Is asus (1080) better or worse than the rest? I might wait to black friday if my second msi gtx 1080 gaming x has noticeable coilwhine

That's a power supply, we were talking about graphics cards...

You can just dump a glob of rtv on the coils like most manufacturers do with PSU's

Second card also had coilwhine, im trying my luck with a asus gtx 1070 strix and a evga supernova p2 since it can right that 2 identical high end cards have coilwhine, so to take my psu out of the equation i bought a diffrent psu, price is the same that's why i didn't bought a different gtx 1080 and a psu.

That's why i ordered a psu, i can't think of anytrhing i can try other than buying a different gpu to atleast get a decent upgrade to something that doesn't whine.

I got a ASUS GeForce GTX 1070 Strix OC - 8GB, it's not 100% coilwhine free but alot more than msi, changed my psu to the evga supernova 650watt P2 so now im really ready to game

Although not as power full as a gtx 1080 but still about 1/3 faster in timespy than my gtx 1060 6gb

Balonies. This 980ti OCed has zero whine. My older AMD cards had no whine unless ran at 200 fps (menus).

Cover the coil in hot glue, but doubt it will dampen the noise too much lol

I think some people are just more sensitive to coil whine. I haven't heard any in my last three cards.evga 980 ti, msi 980, evga780

None with any of my cards. Maybe I'm just lucky but I don't hear my 1080Ti at all.

My MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X only whines very very slightly after a gaming session longer than 3 hours. I only ever notice it when I get back in menus of the game, and even then, it is very very distant and near inaudible.

Then again I have a sound dampened case, which helps quite a bit, and I've also noticed these noises are very much directional of nature. Moving your case or even rotating it 45 degrees can work miracles.

I guess I'm lucky with my MSI 1070 Gaming X, never noticed any coil whine....
