Cold boot problem

Hello,
I am confused with a current problem on my PC. Sometimes (every other day or so) when I hit the power button, PC powers on for less than 1 second and nothing happens. :banghead:

Funny thing is I found a temporary but working solution; which is unplugging the power cord - hitting the power button couple of times and then re-connecting the power cable - works like a charm.

The problem seems to be mobo-psu compatibility, but I'm not sure. Because, after I unplug the power cord and after I hit the power button first time, PC powers on less than 1 second which indicates that there is still some current inside the PC. After I discharge that small amount of current by hitting power button several times, I plug the power cable and voila! everything works great.

What would be the cause of this cold boot problem?

machine specs:
Biostar tf7050-m2
Athlon X2 4000 (am2)
PNY ddr5300 1024 mb ram
Diamond 256mb 2600xt video card
WD 400gb Sata II (sata)
LG HD-DVD/Blu-ray player (sata)
Samsung 18x dvd writer (ide)
Cooler master 600w psu > http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171013

Thanks in advance,
Onur

something seems to be terribly wrong here, friend...

there is no combatibility problem, as far as I can tell.
I believe one of the components is about to die! so best thing you can do is the elimination process...
1. plug a friends psu instead of yours while using only essential components. if problem persists... It is not a psu problem:shadedshu
2. uninstall motherboard and insulate the columns it sits on before you reinstall it... if problem still there....:wtf:
3. unplug all cd/dvds you are using as well all mem sticks but one... if still a problem then try all other mem sticks...
and so on:shadedshu, and so on:wtf:

btw did I mention cleaning the pc... sometimes dust shorts circuits...
good luck and let me know...:toast:

Most likely PSU problem, grounding issue or mobo failure.
