So I'm the kind of guy that needs to have their service turned off in order to fork money over to the man. Not that I don't have money, I just don't like giving it away regardless of who's on the receiving end. Comcast decided that making payments more than 20 days late gets my service shut off.

Well that's cool. I can get to the comcastonline.net site... however...

I can also get my TPU.com :D

No other sites that I've tried has worked but this one so far. How weird is that? :pimp:

its possible that they've disabled the DNS lookups, but since the IP was cached you can connect here.

try going to 74.125.91.104 - thats google.com.au

if it works via IP but not via the name, then they've just blocked your DNS and you could likely get internet by using a 3rd party DNS server such as openDNS

That there is pretty cool. Going off IP does work :)

Doesn't help trying to search for something, but I can see the site at least. Always a comfort to have that friendly and familiar Google site there. It's like my assurance that the internet does indeed still exist...

try entering these as your primary and secondary DNS servers in either your router, or your network adapters properties.

Whenever comcast shuts off my service, not only can I not access TPU, but any site I do try to access whenever service is gone redirects my to their stupid support site, and after I pay the bill, my browser still redirects those sites to the support page for some time after.

I have to clear the browser cache and run CCleaner in order for it to work. I'd seriously love to take verizon FIOS over comcast (who has a broadband monopoly in my area), but they only offer the phone service :( .

thats because your router/PC is caching their silly 'redirect' DNS for bad people.

you can either run "IPconfig /flushdns" in your windows run menu, or use an alternate DNS server.

Sadly the DNS entries haven't seemed to work after a CCleaner (9GB of crap! omg), and an ipconfig /flushdns.

Overclockersonline and OCC work just the same as TPU though.
