I think Ill be picking this one up day one!

The technical base for Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight is EA's SAGE (Strategy Action Game Engine). But since the structure has been used for the last game of the franchise it has been overhauled and is called RNA Engine since Red Alert 3. It still delivers Shader gimmicks like Light Rays and a lot of particles. The texture quality is acceptable for a real-time strategy game, but in general the game has few polygons.

A positive surprise are the new shadows: The edges of the Shadows Maps are filtered or smoothed and don't flicker as much anymore if the camera is moving. Currently Command & Conquer 4 doesn't really utilize multi-core processors and only a single core is used. In our gallery you can find several impressions from Command & Conquer 4 that we have taken at 2560 x 1600 pixels with maximal details.

The engine is still locked at 30 frames per second, but the Beta is not running 100 percent stable yet - in every match we had lags for example. But of course this is the Beta phase and the developers still have time to optimize the technology. The release date is scheduled for March 18, 2010.

+1 I can't wait for this title! I loved C&C3 + Kane's Wrath, but then Dawn of War II came along and I couldn't get back in the C&C groove. But 4 looks to be fixing that with a heavy dose of awesomeness! I still miss Westwood Studios...rip...

I've been playing the beta for a while.

They have made a very big deal with screenshots and video violating the NDA. So it surprises me to see so many shots in this article.

While I wont disclose details (so i don't violate the NDA myself), I can say the crawler gameplay mechanic is definitely different and adds some unique gameplay to this game. Definitely different yet familiar to CnC players.

I like the beta so far. and bugs are being fixed and features added at a very nice pace.

Yeah, definitely a day one pick-up, thank god, no more RA3 bimbos (WHERE ARE THOU BORIS?!) , bringing it back a little closer to the RA1+2 days, serious but not too serious.

Hmm... only 1 core support? That's disappointing!

i just hope everythings in proportion. Ive played many games like this where buildings are the same size as tanks and foot soldiers are taller then some vehicles i hope everything is at the right height and in proportion with each other if that makes sense

I played the beta while ago, it looks really really bad, and felt like a cheap RTS game from 2000.
Did you notice the only thing you see in those screenshots are huge tanks? Because all other smaller units look like crap.

I'm strongly advice you NOT to buy this game. It's freaking suck!
