you say it stays at express gate, can you get into the bios from there ? (theres the option for OS/Bios etc)

i would double check you have everything plugged in securley inc cards, cables etc, also check your hsf, and if possible, reseat it, it could be due to your cpu overheating if its not making correct contact with the heatsink

HSF? English plz lol

i would guess video card. I dont know how a PC with a bad CPU would behave but i assume it wont boot at all. My advice would be this, disconnect everything from the board but the PSU, 1 stick of RAM, GPU and try to run it. If it still wont boot up try putting GPU in another slot or try another stick of RAM. If that wont help use known good components (RAM, GPU, PSU) and see if it will boot. Also make sure heartsink is seated properly as the person above said.

heatsink/fan

you need to make sure its making proper contact with the cpu even though it may seem to be, if they are fitted even slightly wrong they wont make contact (ive done it myself once or twice), if not it could be overheating the cpu and causing it too freeze,

it really could be a number of things, did you put this together yourself ? and if so, i would check everything i have listed and then unplug everything and see if it posts with just the cpu and memory and nothing else.

failing all that, i would probably take everything out and start all over, taking my time and rechecking EVERYTHING is how it should be before it gets turned on

Wont even post with CPU and memory... CPU? Ive tried just one memory stick too.

Is this a brand new build? I assume you have booted into vista prior to this fault?

take her apart and start again thoroughly checking and rechecking everything is done correctly, make sure your motherboard standoffs are where they should and there are no extra ones any where else, then proceed to install everything one by one securing all cables, memory etc correctly and firmly

AND if you still have the same problem then you know its not a genuine mistake and there is a hardware fault, figuring out what that fault is would be a lot easier if you have access to another rig to test all the components out one by one
