Power Supply Earthwatts 380>>>Corsair 620HX
Is this an apples to oranges comparison or is there some way to calculate/translate the VIsta WEI in terms of the Win7 WEI?

I just want to know if this Lenovo that I'm interested in buying will be as fast or faster overall (with a little more attention to cpu and graphics) than my current laptop.

Toshiba spec:
Win7 Home Prem
2.13 C2D P7450 3mb
4g ddr3 ram
1gb GT 230m
500gb hd 5400 8mb

Win7 WEI:5.6
Processor-5.7
RAM-5.8
Graphics aero-6.4
Gaming graphics-6.4
Primary hard disk-5.6

The laptop I'm interested in buying has Vista
Lenovo Y550 spec:
2.66 C2D p9600 6mb
512mb GT 130m
4gb ram not sure if ddr2 or3
160gb hd 5400rpm

Vista WEI: 5.2
Processor-5.2
RAM-5.9
Graphics aero-5.9
Gaming graphics-5.9
Primary hard disk-5.2

The cpu seems far superior on the Lenovo, but the gpu is a little slower, would I see that much of a difference in gaming between the 130m and the 230m?

afaik the wei values would be the same for vista and win7 - of course vista tops out at 5.9 so if you have 5.9 in vista you could get a higher score in win7. Basically if you have a 4.2 in vista it should be a 4.2 in win7 (for example).

You're saying that the P9600 cpu on the Lenovo would score lower than the P7450 on Toshiba using the Win7 WEI?, a .5 difference at 5.2 and 5.7 respectively? I dunno if I can believe that seeing as the P9600 has a higher clock and more cache than the P7450
