Hey guys,

I don't know anything about PSU or what I weed need, wattage wise, but I'm going for a relatively cheap build and want to match it with a pretty cheap PSU but i still want it to function obviously.

I'm gonna have

Motherboard:MSI 770-C45 Motherboard
http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=26_340&item_id=025489

Processor: AMD Athlon II X2 25 - 3.0 GHz, 65 W
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103903

OR!!!

AMD Athlon II X3 445 - 3.1 GHz 95 W
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103872

Graphics Card: EVGA 512mb 9800 GT
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5639258&csid=ITD&body=MAIN

RAM: Mushkin Enhanced Silverline 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666)
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820146740

Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 500gb SATA
http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=15_210_212&item_id=021509

Anti-Static Wrist Strap: Rosewill RTK-001 Premium Anti-Static Wrist Strap
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16899261001

Since this is my first time building I was just wondering, will everything be compatible, will all the items I purchase come along with everything I need to set it up and I am forgetting anything? I have a monitor, mouse keyboard, tower and speakers already.

Also, how necessary is getting an after-market heatsink and fan, I was thinking about getting Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound for $10 didn't know if it was necessary. Will all the wires I need to set up the motherboard come with the motherboard?

AND most importantly, what PSU will I need?

-Thanks a lot!

For a couple bucks more that epower has a better oem and is higher wattage

You also don't need the wrist strap...at all don't grab the gold connectors and shuffle your feet on carpet and you should never shock any component. Also just touch the case if you are that worried

I just have one comment: Don't just the MSI board. Its finicky with memory. I've got that board and I've got 1600mhz cas 7 Corsair Dominators that won't even run 1600mhz on that board no matter the cpu or bios. Let alone cas 7 at 1333mhz. Also the board has two cpu-nb voltage settings (like all MSI boards). One for VID the other to control voltage over VID. The latter is just labeled CPU-NB voltage. The CPU core voltage works like it should but the CPU-NB doesn't and it always starts off from the same base no matter the CPU-NB VID set. Also it doesn't correlate to the voltage you input as it adds the mv over 1.0 on top of the CPU-NB VID.

I think you'd be better off with the Biostar board on that same site. I havn't used it but I'd never recommend that MSI 770 to anyone.

Who is the oem on the epower?

Also if his place is like mine it won't matter. I've kicked motherboards, sat on them, even crap the eb jeebies out of myself when I dropped my i7 920! All still work though.

But uh yea. Just grab the case with one hand, lay your arm(s) on it, have an elbow, or what ever. Pick your favorite just touch the case every few minutes or (if you want across the room) touch it before you grab any of the parts and you'll be ok.

How's this look?

Also is the tri-core worth it for like mediocre gaming (SC2), movie watching, average use, etc.?

What kind of resolution are you running?

What kind of budget do you have planned for?

If it's an option, I'd get a Phenom II X2 over a Athlon II X2 or X3.

Buy from ncix.com and pricematch to wherever is cheaper

prices will save you a hell lot as you can pricematch, they are the biggest online canadian computer part retailer and have great customer service. On top of that, they are having a 5$ shipping thing (5$ for the whole order).

do they pricematch like mail in rebate sales? cause the 9800 GT is for $60 on a $40 mail in rebate. Also is it better to get the 5570 for directx 11.0 or 9800GT which is a better card?

No, they do not pricematch mail-in-rebates, but I hate MIRs :S

use shopbot.ca and pricecanada.com to find the best prices

why hate them? Takes forever to get your money?

that and sometimes you don't get it at all... sometimes they say they didn't receive the required proof when they actually did etc etc. all the hassle and the risk
even worse when its US rebates from canada

does newegg.ca pricematch and if so does it pricematch mail in rebates?i tried googling it, got mixed answers

noone pricematches mail-in-rebates and as far as I know, noone except ncix pricematches. newegg definitely doesn't

how much of an advantage is modular? Someone once told me that you have to get modular since it's like necessary practically if you wanna be able to set it up without messing up

it's only luxury, if you have a small case it'll help for airflow, and it's less messy, but nowhere near necessary
