Did you build this computer yourself?

What steps did you take to build this computer?

Are you sure all of the correct wires are connected to the motherboard?

Did you make sure the heatsink is properly attatched to the CPU?

If you hit the delete key repeatedly when you start it up can you get into the bios?

mobo + cpu + ram + power supply, then connected everything.

does your mobo have any lights on it? do they light up?

did you try jump starting your PSU to see if you could run some fans or something off it to see if thats working 1005?

Sounds to me like a shorted and or fried mobo. Had the same problem with a mobo in the past. It would turn on and shut off 5 seconds later. Check your mobo mounting screws, make sure they are properly inserted and all the holes with metal around them have screws in them.

It could be the PSU, new dosnt mean reliable, and just to let you know, that PSU can deliver up to 300W max in the 12v rail, so if the PSU is Ok and you are planing to add a video card latter you shouldnt buy one that exceed 100W -120W max under load. I know that the box says eXtreme power plus 500W but the label in the PSU says 360W combined load on the 12v rail, and if you look in the web you will find that it can deliver up to 300W, above that the ripple and noise levels are beyond specs.
