(Please wait.. but it doesn't do something :( )
please help me i having a problem like this ( I think bios update will help me)

when i'm playing games, in the middle of a game the screen would cut out, i could hear the computer power down but i could still hear the audio from the game. After a little while the audio stutters and my computer beeps and restarts. Im getting real frustrated because this keeps happening and obviously i need help. Ive checked my temp and my cpu is running hot according to some temperature software i have.

Additional Details

AMD Radeon HD 4870 darknight
4GB RAM
Intel I7
850W power supply ( http://online.barclays.lk/bc/itemdes...=14229&eq=&Tp= )

this is my casing

and these are run test of heatups

What are your GPU temps right before the problem happens?

If you do have 2 in crossfire what are the temps on both cards? Also the temps you posted are they at full load?

I am running 2 4870's in cf without any problems.

No, he is stating that he only has one card.

Reason that we were both asking if you have 2 cards, is your title states "problem with crossfire...." indicating your running more than one card.

Are you getting any odd lines or bad colors during the game before it reboots?

I'm lost. He didn't even come close to answering my questions. I'm thinking he is overheating. But not sure.

yeah the are full loads, the CPU usage is 100%, temp was 84c

in Video Card Stability Test you can see the GPU meter on the right top corner

Yes, crossfire is more than one card. Crossfire means that 2 or more cards are linked together. Nvidia uses SLI to indicate more than one card being used.

Your cpu is hitting 84c? I think that may just be you problem right there.

Ok, I'm confused here. First he says his temps are:
CPU: 50-60C
GPU: 45-55C

Later he says his CPU reaches 84C under load...

The problem he's describing sounds alot like what I experience every time I install my HD4850 and forget to plug it's Zalman VF1000 into a fan header....which results in overheating...

Might be a good idea to remove the card, clean it's heatsink thoroughly and see how it responds afterwards. The style cooler used on the HD4870 Dark Knight edition has a nice dust collection spot directly under the fan that would do wonders for increasing GPU temp over time.

CPU: 50-60C
GPU: 45-55C
these are the normal temps (before the heatup software runs)

84C is the temp when the CPU usage goes to 100%

i all ready try that, coz i've changed my casing to this http://online.barclays.lk/bc/itemdesc.asp?ic=17240&eq=&Tp=

So, if I understand it correctly the flashing/updating of the videocard's bios was meant to fix the instability issues, such as shutting down of the PC in the middle of a game session, right?

Anyway, can you please fill in the system specs in your sig., e.g. the exact motherboard (brand and model), cpu cooler, ram configuration (such as how many ram modules and the size of each of them, including timing, Vmem etc.), other PC components like pci or pci-e expansion cards etc..

As far as I can say is that over 84 degrees Celsius may have triggered the processor to throttle and computer to shut down. Anyway, does anyone know the TJ Max of the Core i7 920? I couldn't find it, but found an interesting article: http://www.pugetsystems.com/blog/2009/02/26/intel-core-i7-temperatures/

Replace the cpu-cooler with a better one, e.g. one with heatpipes or direct touch heatpipes, and make sure there's a good airflow in the PC case by mounting fans in the PC case (e.g. one in front of the case and one in the rear).

looks 85 ok.

I see the PSU ok brand. but modular. I suggest first check the cable connections, may swap the GPU power cable .
Its a single rail 12v. but I would still try from diff connection each power to the GPU.
try thet.

Update your audio and video drivers and run Windows Update. Run some stability tests on your CPU, RAM, and video card individually to isolate the problem.

^THIS^

Run some tests and give some screen shots of the results.

Are you over-clocking the card or anything else?
Do you have good airflow in that case?
What are your ambient temps?
Did it always do this or just recently?
Have you made any changes to your system?

Try using CCC overdrive and throttle the video memory back 15 to 25 Mhz... then try your games.
Good-luck there.:)
