Hmm, well I'd back up everything, do a full format like Ketxxx suggested, and then see what happens. If you can get a blank disk I'd still suggest running the Hitachi HDD diagnostic test, just for good measure. The Hitachi test is also good at repairing bad sectors too, if any are present.
