Computer Will Not Start

Not sure where to post this.
Turned on computer, got 'press F1 go to bios'. Clock was at 1:1:2009, right! Bios battery is dead. Replaced it with new battery. New volts = 3.1±. Old batt = 0.3±. OK, dead batt. I had to remove the graphics card, the battery is directly under the card. New batt, re-install card, OK. Now, power up, power button, fans spin but I get monitor looking for input *hdmi* - *analog* - back & forth till 'entering power saving mode'. Had to turn off with switch on psu. (comp connected) to hdmi monitor and vga via kvm switch. I checked all connections, all is well. Re-connected 'C' drive to different hdmi inputs, nada. Tried ½ dozen times. Next morning, yesterday, tried *one* last time. Started to bios, reset clock, re-boot. OK! re connected hdmi cables to original locations. Re-boot, Back to nothing. Tried this morning, same issue.

Any ideas?

Did you forget to plug in the 12V cable to the graphics card per chance?

Your Cmos will have cleared with the removal of the battery, so it's try with basics, one stick of ram etc.

Its an ASUS HD 5450 Silent card. No 12v socket. (no sockets of any type on it)

No fan on card, but I built a 'fan on a bracket', <remove the plate below the card & mount the fan there> The heat sink is cool to the touch. only add this to say I dont think it is/was ever running too hot.

Decided to change sata cables as they seemed to fit loosely in mobo sockets. The plastic part (actual socket the contacts are in) came off with the cable leaving the contacts soldered to the mobo. Took ½ an hour to get it back on. There are/were molded in the plastic two metal tabs soldered to the mobo. It felt very secure when I pushed plastic back on, I pulled it off again. Took an hour to get it back on this time. (pray this never happens to you!) I have the plastic about 1/8th" above the mobo, & wonder what to use to glue it down, super glue, epoxy, or something else.
Does anybody have suggestions for an adhesive/glue to use?

This is the #1 socket on the end, the #4 on other end is slightly loose, it pivots just a tiny bit.

Unplug the 24 pins and leave it for a while then plug it back then retest it

Super glue may be easier to work with in tight confines and no mixing required.

Try reseating the graphics card if you haven't already done so.

Edit: Do you have another graphics card to test with? What mobo do you have and does it have any diagnostic leds?

All apart to access the sata sockets. I will try the super-glue, and put a tag 'be careful with plugs!!' inside the comp

Superglued the plastic back on. replaced 2 'latchable' sata cables, put it all back together, works like a champ.

Thanks for all suggestions.
