For those people who are crazy about having gold fish in ur PC. SO if you layered ur water tank > Oil top on water, then u put the pc on the oil section and fish lower down in the water section.

The ulitimate in liquid cooling...... lol.

It should work, as oil is non-conductive.

This is just totally bizzare....

Gold fish under the tank means less cleaning on ur Motherboard, just shake it and the fish food falls.... LOL

Oil is also used as a coolant for the transformers that you see up on mains power line posts (aka substations). They are oil cooled, and when one has a coolant leak, you can get a spectacular bang.

Will the oil tank get dirty over time, i mean the fatty acid stuff eats up the motherboard?

Oil will stop the O2 transfer into the water from the surface and the fish will die. Unless you have an airpump supplying air to the water layer.

Not convinced it's a good idea. However, I have considered using my aquarium as water cooling for my PC. They're beside each other, massive reservoir (200l) for PC cooling, powerful pump for circulation and less need for the aquarium heater! Problem is it ties the PC to the Aquarium, not good for LANs!

The rig that you set up IMO is not that good for OIL COOLING.
1-You need a larger PASSIVE CPU HSF
2-SAME goes with you GFX, RAM and NB,SB
3-You can't have FISH for pet(anyway what animal can grow in oil??)
You won't get most oc'ing out of this rig, if thats what you are trying to do.
THE good thing about this
1-You can also use it as a cooking oil.

Doesnt oil corrode/damage the parts after removal though? Alcohol (90%) in a sealed chamber would be like better.

Alcohol may be worse, esp if there is a spark close by, then you will literally have burnt fish and chips..

The cooking oil breaks down after awhile causing it to be sticky and stinky, hmmmmmmmmm maybe die-electric fluid like in transformers would be ideal, FR3 die-elctric fluid is what is used in Transformers.

They use oil in the mains grid transformers (AKA transformer oil  ). I used to work for a Power Utility company a while back and I used to manage the technicians who test the oil for contaminants and conductivity before installation and refurbishment of these devices.

isnt that oil good up to like 300C or something, all I know it is a VERY high temp threshold.

Yeah, it's high grade, high temp oil. You should see when the explode, as the sometimes do when there's an oil leak. The explosion noise is so loud, you'd think a bomb went off closeby.

I've head one go off two blocks down, car alarms went off like crazy, and everyone rushing out onto the street expecting a plane crash or something like that.
