Hello. Everyone, recently decided to upgrade my PC and get Core i7-8700K. Would Cooler Master Hyper TX3 EVO be enough to cool it? It's current one i'm using for my Core i5-2500. I don't plan to overclock it.

It should be fine providing you still have the correct mounting hardware

oooh, that's right. I didn't think about it. I still have all the spare mounting brackets but now have to double check if it's compatible.

It is important to note it is your case's responsibility to provide a sufficient supply of cool air flowing through the case. The CPU cooler need only toss the CPU's heat into that flow.

It is interesting that Amazon lists the i3 and i5, but not i7 when no mention of specific CPU support is listed on the CoolerMaster website. ???

That is a rather tall cooler so make sure your case is wide enough to support it too.

it's installed in my case rn. I have Phanteks ECLIPSE P400. I plan to get better cooler eventually anyway, but as temporary solution i want to use my old one.

1150 mounting hardware should work on 1151. You should be able to buy it on its own from retailers or directly from cooler master themselves if you need to

No "should" about it. All 115X sockets use the same hardware. What is currently in use on the 2600K will all transfer over to the 8700K. Also if i recall, the hardware is push-pin.

It'll be fine, but if you get a Z board don't forget to check the core boost settings it came with. You can't handle an OC on that cooler, anything above 1.3v will probably go out of spec. Its a completely different world compared to a 2500k :p
