Hyper 212 EVO has worked great for me. Easy 30$ quick upgrade if you can fit this.

My temps dropped dramatically on my 8350 when I switched to this, along with fan noises from the stock cooler

but i am giving him a Corsiar H100 for free.
he can save that money for a case.
