Cooler Master Extends Warranty of its Nepton 140XL and Nepton 280L CPU Coolers

Nepton 140XL / 280L each feature a pump with an exclusive Cooler Master design that maximizes performance and flow.

It's one thing to know that a product will give many years of service, it's another entirely to support it throughout that. Cooler Master products, including the Nepton Series, are built to last. Knowing this, Cooler Master has announced an expansion to the Nepton Series warranty from its original two years to a full five years from original purchase date. This increase in the warranty will unequivocally show how series Cooler Master is about supporting its products. This five year warranty period will come with the same great support from regionally located customer service teams from across the globe. This is an added bonus for a series of watercoolers that consistently outperform competitive solutions. Nepton Series' leading performance is now backed by a leading warranty.



Nepton 140XL and 280L both are factory filled and sealed for immediate installation and maintenance-free operation for years. Affixed to Nepton 140XL and 280L are premium JetFlo 140 Series fans that are built specially for the high air pressure and heat dissipation required for high performance watercooling. For greater cooling compatibility, JetFlo 120 Series fans and other 120mm fans are supported via compatible mounting holes on the radiator. Nepton 280L comes equipped with dual JetFlo 140 fans and an extra large 280mm radiator that, together, generate substantial cooling power that can dissipate up to 300W of heat. This, coupled with a pure copper base, means Nepton can handle high CPU overclocking. Longer and thicker FEP tubing assists in maintaining exceptional performance through less restrictive water flow and superb evaporation resistance.

People are suckers when it comes to long warranties. First of all the extened warranty is figured into the retail price and secondly the extended warranty doesn't in any way mean the product is superior quality. It's possible but there is certainly no assurance of such just because it has a longer warranty than another product.

The high profit margins on this type of Asian manufactured product allows a company to absorb a lot of warranty claims and still profit greatly. It's just a numbers game. If advertising a long warranty dupes enough people into buying, there is plenty of funds to replace defective products over and over and over.

If you go to the Corsair website and read the threads on chronic failures where it's very common for people to have 2-3 of the same or different models of Corsair H2O coolers fail, you can see a pattern. Corsair has also acknowledged in these threads that they do monitor the failure rate but they don't disclose this info. to consumers. Gee...I wonder why that is. ;) It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what they are hiding.

Better lock your doors, bar your windows, put on your tinfoil hat, coat your entire house in egg boxes, and drink your own urine.
Extended warranties is only the beginning.

You're not wrong, Jorge, just taking the negative viewpoint as usual. People commonly expect a product to last until the day after the warranty expires, and many of them will notice the shorter warranty and avoid these products, so it was a good move for CM to match Corsair's generous coverage. So how is this a bad thing? People who already have one of these coolers get 3 more years as a free bonus, and anyone who is "duped" into buying one by the longer warranty, well, as you pointed out, few of them by any manufacturer will last more than a year or two anyway. This way you can get at least 3 replacement coolers for the original price, but you should buy 2 of them so you can just rotate one into service while you wait for the RMA. If you wait 2 years before buying the second one (assuming the first one's still working), you'll have 7 years of continuous use with no interruptions, which is a pretty good deal if you can afford it.
