So I replaced the stock cooler that came with the prebuilt that I bought. The fan that came on it was a cooler master plugged into an apevia controller, that fan would change with the case fans. I plugged the fan in exactly as it came off and it stays a static color. I then tried to connect to included controller for the fan from the CM box and can change the color independently. Am I missing something, or can I not change the color with the other fans? I feel like this should have just been a plug and play and done... thanks in advance.

This is what came off: https://www.newegg.com/cooler-maste...AJjf7bUXRajiZ1KTuFwaAgEpEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

Is the new Cooler ARGB?
The original was only RGB which is a different voltage.
Combing the two types will render the 5V ones inoperable.

ps your second link is broken.

They have the same exact connectors on them

the box doesn't specify argb but RGB 16.7 million colors. Old fan shows 12v

That voltage is for the fan motor, and all standard PC fans are 12V. LED voltages are separate from this, and there are both 5V and 12V standards. Show a pic of the RGB connector from both fans?

Edit: ah, yes, that fan label does state ARGB. The stock case fans are most likely not ARGB, and the controllers will then not be compatible. I would assume your motherboard has an ARGB header? Plug it in there instead.

4 pin connector for the leds is RGB 12V, 3 pin is ARGB 5V.

4 pin connector for the leds is RGB 12V, 3 pin is ARGB 5V.

Both fans had a 4 pin 12v to mobo, and 3 pin for led - conenctors were 100% Identical, I unhooked them, installed the heatsink and reconnected in the same positions --- I'm sure it's something really simple as far as resetting the controller to "see" the new fan or something, I'm just not sure - I've never dealt with argb (rgb) fans before. My old system I used cold cathode tubes, and this only has RGB as what it came with, but it bugs my OCD that they don't work together yet lol.

Both the old fan and new fan have this exact pin setup for the fan and led connections. This is the old one (new is currently installed)

That voltage is for the fan motor, and all standard PC fans are 12V. LED voltages are separate from this, and there are both 5V and 12V standards. Show a pic of the RGB connector from both fans?

That ARGB fan is what I removed from the cheap cooler they used - but it synced perfectly with the case lights. The pinouts were exact so I tried to reconnect exactly how it connects --- I know the motherboard supports the cpu fan and I can hook it directly into the motherboard - But I was hoping to control it along with the case fans so I can shut them off at night or change the colors in one move versus having to get into the bios. I'm almost certain the fan will work--- just need to figure out the right configuration with wiring or "learning" the controller to accept it or vice versa.

Odd as they are both CoolerMaster and should sync the same.

Which was my thought as well. I wrote to the PC builder to see if there is a sync setting from the controller, I may try and connect the old fan in series and see if it will still be controlled as well.
