Sorry that it's taken me so long to use this cooler, (I won it here on TPU) but when I first pulled it out it didn't fit in the case I was using. (it's huge!)

Fast forward to now, and I decided on a whim to try it out on an X99 build.

The CPU is an i7-6850K installed in a Gigabyte X99 Ultra Gaming G1 Mainboard.
It has 64GB of DDR4-3000MHz Ram and a 500GB Crucial M.2 Drive installed.
There is a 2TB and a 3TB Spinner inside, as well as a pair of R9-290X OC GPUs. (the 290X GPUs are temporary)
I used a low budget Rosewill Rise Full Tower and was pleasantly surprised at how versatile it is.
Most of the fans are Enermax TB-Vegas Red LED fans, ad more are on the way to make all of them match.

So I installed the CoolerMaster MasterAir Maker-8 CPU cooler and booted it up. It's running at 28C at idle and 46C at load. This cooler is staying in here for good. (I have a 240mm AIO that I could have used instead)

This is probably the most advanced traditional air cooler at the moment. It's also the only one using some radical tech that's not just a stack of classic heatpipes.

is this the same fan? Only 38 CFM and 1.2 mmh2o. if its anything like the V8, changing the fan to something 70+CFM with decent static pressure really improves cooling dramatically.

That's a bit rubbish. Sure it would be relatively quiet, but still. Especially since it goes up to 1400 RPM. If you want anything really silent it has to have the highest flow and pressure at around 900-1000 RPM.

EDIT:
I'm totally hyped for BeQuiet SilentWings 3 fans, 1000 RPM, 15dB and 100m3/h with 1.09 mmH2O. At 1000 RPM and with that noise level, that is pretty significant.

The 140mm fans are not made to standard dimensions and other 140mm fans will not fit the cooler.
But it comes with adaptors to fit standard 120mm fans. I may try out something different someday, we'll see.

With this CPU there is no need to use fans with higher airflow. This case has good airflow too.

When I want powerful, but quiet fans, I use Cougar Vortex 120mm and 140mm fans.
(now with red LED lights in them)

These Enermax fans are pretty quiet and the lighting effects are nice. My wife keeps walking by and commenting how pretty this build is.

Usually, yes. But these are quiet and they're moving a lot of air too.

I think that CoolerMaster has hit this one out of the park.

Gotta say I didn't know what to think about this cooler but I dig it after reading reviews and experienced with it. Looking forward to this technology trickling down to the sub-$100 air cooling category.
