So it's been discussed in a few threads, there are so many varied climates across the world but we all use computers in various ways.

I have seen others post benchmark temps and some members have literally lower load temps than my ambient.

As soon as I can find a thermometer with a humidistat, I plan to take some records of ambient, idle and load temps with my cooling.

I know we have a large range of cooling solutions on the forum from simple air all the way through to custom loops with chillers and the posts rarely point out ambient temps so I thought we could show our recordings.

Did you mean humidistat? A humidistat is used to "control" humidity. It typically is used with a monitoring device to then cycle on or off a humidifier in dry environments for example, or perhaps a dehumidifier is very humid conditions.

A hygrometer is used to monitor or measure moisture content in the air.

In any case, the humidity has no effect on our electronics - unless of course, it is dripping wet, or so dry ESD becomes a serious issue.

And of course, humidity does affect the "feels like" temperature we, has humans with living flesh, feel. But that humidity has no effect on the temperature of non-living objects like our electronics.

Sorry it's late yes a hydrometer

Exactly some are in very dry hot climates so ESD is a issue so a humidifier is needed, some of us use chillers so humidity and dew temp are important.

I myself have to watch humidity in the summer because not only is dry compared to the rest of the year but also using Air-conditioning increases the risk of ESD significantly.

Typically, heaters in the winter are a much greater problem than AC in the summer in terms of ESD risks. I have lived in the desert southwest (Arizona and New Mexico) as well as Mississippi bayou, and rainy England - among other climate areas. Here in Nebraska, I have to use a humidifier on my furnace or our skin cracks and falls off in chunks - or gets scratched off in chunks due to extreme itching! ;)

I just use air, lots of it too

Yeah, in most areas, setting up the case to provide hurricane force winds through the case is plenty.

As for this system, just typing this, I am sitting at 21°C and 49% humidity in the house with ambient at 74°F (23.3°C). I will assume my ambient is higher than my CPU because the CPU is about 12 inches off the floor and the room thermometer is 5 feet up the wall.

It's the opposite here because it never gets that cold and winter is just monsoon season so humidity is super high, then summer is so hot we tend to get lots of intra cloud storms as well as any remaining humidity is ripped from the air by the air conditioning

I was thinking about using a chiller here but using it during the winter when I'm stuck inside most of the time looked like a total nightmare with dew point.

Humidity is a big deal for human cooling; but not really for computers.

It depends on the environment and your cooling solution just because most people have no issues with humidity doesn't mean everyone doesn't. I'm waiting for the chiller users to chime in.

In TX we can experience all 4 Seasons in 1 day, Primarily to cool rooms it is a central AC/Heater, otherwise Window units or portable ACs...

It is best to keep temps from going over 75°F in the room for PCs...

Hi,
To many people don't enter basic regional info listed under their avatar so benchmarks can be incomplete
Texas is hot and steamy 10 months out of the year I try to keep it around 25.5c room ambient

I do post core temps with benchmark subs, dates should give an idea it's likely not seasonal benchmark time lol
Water temp is usually 2-3c different from room ambient.
Builds are in my system spec's another thing to many people don't do lol

That’s why I use big heat sinks and move shitloads of air (not all the time)

There was many times I looked outside and the temp in the backyard was over 100f during this passed summer. It’s like standing in someone’s mouth but worse. We moved out of a 3 story walk up that had no air and shit airflow, with a view facing the hot afternoon sun.. I haven’t had to dial back an overclock due to ambients in a few years. Mind you we have had air here in the house for a couple of years.. so we are spoiled. But at the apt I was running my 3770K at 4600-4700MHz with it being 95 at least. I don’t miss that place much. Heated floor in the winter was nice.. for my aging bones.

Probably not I’m almost 44 but worked hard and played hard, now I’m lazy :D

But I ride a 50lb mountain bike and lift steel all day while some desk jockey friends are not as fit.. and showing their age

Kids! Well, I won't hold your youthful lack of experience against you! ;)

50lb mountain bike? Seriously? What? A 27.5" fat tire steel frame Mongoose with 2 saddle bags full of stuff and 4 x 24oz water bottles?

My carbon Emonda road bike weighs 24lbs, with 2 full bottles, and a small under-saddle tool kit. That could be considered heavy for a decent road bike.

Being right next to the Missouri River, there are 100s of miles of paved dedicated bike trails sitting on top of flood control levees in this area. :) I have 289 miles to go to beat last years record (for me) of 4647 miles :D before the season runs out. I just need 10 more days above 55°F and no rain. Sadly, that's not a given in the last half of October here in Eastern Nebraska. :(

Actually humidity affects radiator performance greatly and thus enthusiast computer cooling to a large degree.

Higher humidity HELPS radiator performance. Low humidity HINDERS radiator performance. The larger your radiator surface area, the more this will affect your cooling.

This is why your car overheats worse in the Mojave desert at 95F versus in Mobile, AL at 95F.

I assume the same is true for air cooled heat-sinks.

It’s an 05 Specialized Bighit.. not for around here but it gets me to work and I got a really good deal on it. It’s got a 26” wheel up front and a 24 in the back.. she is a beast. Triple crown Bombers and a nice Fox out back. We have the Red River here, which I guess would be the Mississippi? It flows north anyways :D

Next year I will convert it to an E-Bike :rockout:
