:slap: :D
Could be damaged. But i would not worry about it. If it works and passes stress test you should be allright. How high were the temps?

 Download TaT and then tell us what your temps are ASAP! Also, Im assuming you've reverted back to stock voltage on the cpu, but if you havent please do so immediately!

I bet you burned Intel's 'secret overclocking' fuses, but other than that sounds like you're ok. Just lost your warranty I would guess.

Thought I read about those fuses on TPU if I'm not mistaken

If the motherboard gave you the option of 1.9 then no it would be fine. Otherwise why would they have given you the option. So the motherboard is fine.

Well, I think we all get a little scared if we are pushing things to the limit. However, there are certainly levels of overclocking that are not for the sqeemish or noobs. This guy obviously took things too high, and definately needed to do his homework before trying to put that much voltage through that chip. Noobs need to research and experiment in small steps. I think if we make a blanket statement of Fear of burnt chips = no overclocking, then many great OCer's would have never tried it. It's more like ignorance and stupidity should equal no overclocking.

80 is crazy high but probabally didn't do any damage to the chip and if your passing all benchies with flying colours you should feel proud that you bought such a tolerant chip.

You've given me some confidence now....my Im scared to change and voltages on my system incase i hear the long beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep when the PC turns on that indicates a damages system board or CPU.

I stepped over that big 1.42V line of my E6300 today - now running at 3.6GHz but I intend to reduce the speed a bit..its running at 60C.

The Chip is fine. Luckily all motherboards (here in the past year or so) have built in alarms, safety nets and warnings with things go wrong. The overvoltage, that you caused by accident trying to do memory and not cpu (Read: for Pauliegg) probably caused the safenet to shut it down. You are fine. The option is in the bios of the motherboard, because its read from the chips (CPUs) and also from what Intel gives them.

The fact you are passing everything and temps are fine, you are good to go. I wouldnt worry too much about it.

When your system shut down it was either the chip or more than likely, the motherboard doing that. This prevents damage from too much ocing/high ocing or innocent mistakes, like what you made.
