Any of your mates likes to pee in weird places? Either that or your block/rad is leaking. Disassemble entire rig and order a visit from your local army decontamination unit.

Hi, my graphics card is corroding. It still works, should I remove and clean the corrosion? This is my only computer and I can't risk it not working any advice is appreciated.

Holy banana, not even my geforce9800gt that i've found inside a paint bucket submerged in water and populated by algae was not rvrn nearly damaged as this. with my experience recycling old electronics, i think that already moving the card out of the PCI-E socket will laminate an torn apart the PCB. Good luck, i'm hoping that it's mold and not corrosion what i'm seeing...

Pretty sure a AIO isn't filled with a yellow colored fluid (look again at the top of the block with Corsair.) Either it's urine from a pet peeing on top of the case or beer was spilled inside.

It'd be impossible to piss through the top of a computer case and get that kind of laser accuracy. The mesh on top of a PC case would send it everywhere like a sprinkler. I'm prepared to be wrong, but not without more pictures that show a clearer story.

dont let them fool you. just disassemble everything and spray that cleaner over every contaminated part and should dry in 10 min.
with this method ya can make nikotin or in other stuff soaked motherboards, gpu´s ++ like new again.

be careful afterwards its a little bit more prone for antistatic so dont run with the parts in your hand over a long haired carpet! but there is a spray for that too-i never used it.

As for the dirt/corrosion etc and some saying it can't be from the LC - y'all need to watch GN's enermax TR4 disassembly video. It was as nasty as OP's pics.

Yep, definitely a possibility. That stuff can be pretty nasty, especially cat pee, it's pretty corrosive and drys to a nasty brown color.

and the smell. My sisters cat sprayed the intakes multiple times and gods the smell. I think I thrashed that case.

Either that or your block/rad is leaking
Hopefully the OP wasn't following that video posted up on Youtube for a PC build from the Verge. If I remember right, the guy in the video used the wrong screws for mounting the radiator to the case.

Yeah, the dude used those screws what are used to mount the fans to the radiator, for just screwing the radiator to the case.. IIRC he said that they're long, wonder why..

Dont reuse that garbage cooler. Ditch it. Had a problem once and will have another.
The o ring is probably shot or the plastic top to the block is comprimised in some way.

Then how do you explain all the water/fluid droplets on top of the block?

1. There is a leak seal between the pump parts. When the seal leaks, it could be anywhere around the seal or at muliple locations around the seal... that includes the top.

2. The water in the loo[ is under pressure ... it may not drop put, it could spray out

Plus, AIO coolers tend to be loaded with anti-corrosion chemicals to stop the copper block from corroding with the aluminum radiator.

1. AIO coolers do not always mix metals ... just the cheap ones. EE, Swiftech and Alphacool make AIOs with no dissimilar metals.

2. Corrosion inhibitors have a useful life of 18-24 months. See pics

https: //www.youtube.com/watch?v=HC1kzO_gIp4

Copy the links and get rid of the 2 spaces after https: to view

And yes, many corrosion inhibitors have a yellow or green tint s... ever put antifreeze in your car ?

By all means do not put MoBo in dishwasher .. OK for a simple KB ... not for any componentry with LCDs, lighting or ports / connectors where water may become trapped.

To be frank ... I wouldn't even try to clean it. I buy a new MoBo, GFX card and an AIO that wasn't a CLC or to help save money, a $45 Scyth Fuma / $60 Fuma 2 air cooler that will perform better than most AIOs. If ya just love the lights and want something that won't explode and won't be a science project and which you can expants ... and which you can add corrosion inhibitors after the completely lose their usefullness:

If you ever go AIO again, there's a simple trick I use to prevent a serious issue like yours. I will cut up a strip or block of dried out sponge and place under the block. It will catch moisture and keep it contained. I do this on every AIO I use, just in case, knock on wood.

It does kind of look like the corsair coolant:

@4:25 you can see it pouring out.

It's a pretty serious chemical reaction. I would say piss just because of how much white particulate there is around the card :fear:

Regardless of whether its the AIO leaking or not, how on earth did it get so bad before being noticed?

I must admit when I clicked on the thread I was expecting a small patch on the PCI-e connectors or near the I/O..

I can speak from personal experience, if a cat sprays a computer, it will lock immediately. :(

It's alkaline, vinegar washes it off pretty well. Then the dishwasher.

I'm not putting cat piss in the DW.

This is a slow-leak situation. There no other way for that much build-up of crud to have taken place without causing component failure. The OP did say his system was working at the time.

don't waste your time with the Alcohol solution, it wont work! Vinegar is an acid and you don't want that shit on anything metal..

Get a can of CRC contact cleaner. It's safe for plastic and is used for electronics and is safe, plus leaves no residue behind.. take all the parts out and remove the mobo and take it outside and hold it upside down and hammer the CRC to it and you'll be good to go. Just use some common sense and you wont have any issues ;)

Vinegar is a mild acid, and is useful for neutralizing any strong alkalis.

Washing it of with a 'soap' like Alconox, and copious quantities of water is Required, as I said.

That's my standard treatemnt for stuff with batteries corroded in them, from being forgotten.

I'd say disassemble, clean it with a soft tooth brush and some 91% isopropyl and then let it dry. Probably salvageable. Make sure you clean that slot. Don't buy another AIO, this is what happens with them sooner or later.
