Hey guys..

I don't know with which 4x4GB corsair memory to go on.

I want a kit of 16gb 4x4gb.

I know that the difference on the MHz is only the overclocking that's been done on them.

But what about timings?

Any help? :D :toast:

at one and the same clock - as lower the timings as better performance
BUT
1. higher clock doesnt allow as lower timings then lower clock speed (1.6khz offer lower timings then 1.8khz)
2. at one and the same clock speed lower timings cost more.
for reference 4x4gb 1600 and 1866 corsair`s kits
1600
1800
lowest eu prices are about +20% over those in us (and price differences between models are 20% higher)

Lol ... between same speed sticks (say 1600 MHz) more expensive ones usually can run lower timings - choose the ones with lowest CAS latency

Benchmark Scores Passmark CPU score = 13080
Higher frequency = higher throughput (read & write speeds in MB/s), but timings affect latency (time spent waiting for various commands to execute), so cheaper DIMMs won't clock higher without relaxing the timings, resulting in no real gain. Expensive stuff like the Dominator Platinum uses hand picked DRAM chips that have been tested to run at their rated clock speed and typically lower timings, and can usually be clocked even higher without changing timings. It's really marketed towards people who already have their system maxed out, and want the last little bit of performance, for bragging rights or higher benchmark scores. In terms of price/performance ratio, it's not a good deal, and most users can't tell the difference because all DDR3 1600 and up is already faster than most people need. A happy medium would be something like this 2133 kit - CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRA... , which has fairly low timings and rated @ 1.5 volts (should have plenty of headroom for clocking higher). You might be able to run it @ 2400/1.65v with the same timings. Using 2 x 8GB DIMMs performs better than 4 x 4GB (on a dual channel platform), and allows room for expansion to 32GB.

Last I checked scaling really leveled off around 2133, but since Haswell has so much headroom in that department I'd do the 2666C11 kit just for kicks.

I've been nothing but happy with Mushkin products. I'm not too fond of Corsair though. I'd get the Mushkin especially because the Mushkin is probably significantly cheaper.

I'm running a set of CMD8GX3M2A2133C9 2X4GB 1.50V sticks 9-11-10-27 1T

LOOK HERE
On my IB Im able to hit 2600Mhz 1.65v with looser timings but really they don't offer much in scaling above 2400MHz.

That depends on how lose you need to set especially secondary and tertiary timings. Many boards drastically loosen tertiary timings above 2400 @ AUTO for increased stability and with that performance suffers quite a bit.
