could it be the SSD

Hi I was wondering if the problems I am having could be the SSD, everything was working okay then I was getting problems shutting down the PC and when I was trying to open folders I get the green strip across the top as if it was loading in, and also you might think it silly but the system just doesn't feel right and when I try to load windows mail in I get the little circle.

So its hanging? It could be a lot of things. Did you clone the system to the SSD? is the hard drive smart data ok? Does the SSD show good? Is it near full? Do you have overprovisioning?

Hi jetster, it's not a clone I formatted it and it's a clean install with only a few programs in, ones I know are okay and no games yet and also it has 380gb free, how do I check the other things you asked about.

Crucial got it's own tool for their SSD's called Storage Execution tool can be downloaded here: http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/support-storage-executive

It kan also check if ur SSD is running the newest firmware and if it got errors.

That SSD report looks good.

Look at event viewer and see if there are any problems... Lesson 3: Using Event Viewer to Troubleshoot Problems
Also, How to View Previous Shutdown and Restart Details in Windows
And, Enable Verbose or Highly Detailed Status Messages In Windows 7 | 8 <-- this may let you see what is going on during start and shutdown.
Check your power options and make sure you are using 100% as the maximum for your CPU.
Check device manager for any problem devices.
Make sure you are using ACHI.
Run a check disk on the drives.
For testing, try changing you drives data cables.
Make sure you bios settings are correct and have not changed for unknown reasons (gremlins).

What A/V and firewall are you using?

Use your resource monitor to find troubles... Lesson 6: Monitoring Your PC with Resource Monitor and Task Manager

Run a good speed test on the SSD and post results... HDTune, ATTO, etc.

Hi I have posted the results. I don't know whether it could be but problems seem to have improved since I uninstalled winzip 10 and installed the latest trial one winzip 20.

I don't like that the raw read error count and unexpected power loss count have gone up between the two smart data captures; also, your power cycle count has doubled since your last capture.

Are you on the Marvell controller?
How are you shutting down?
Are you having a lot of crashes?

That increase could be pointing to a possible problem... did you check your logs in the event viewer.
Check your power connections.
Also, make sure you have the latest firmware.

Hi the capture 4 PNG is from the other ssd that I use for storage, I just connected it up before posting the last time, the website put it in with the earlier.
yes it is a Marvel controller, shutting down is slower but I have no crashes.

Yep, it is a different ssd... I assumed; and, I should not had done that.

I asked about Marvell controller, because, some people have reported the power counts in smart being high when using it with some ssd drives.

Well, the drive in the first capture looks good... try some of the things in my first post (#7) to see if there is any thing that needs attention.
