Considering CS:S is only 5-6 years old, that's impressive, but the fact is Counter-Strike 1.6 is still a more active game. There are more people on Steam playing it all the time, and the leagues and competative events are infinitely larger. That game is 12 years old btw (albeit 1.6 is technically only 7 or so).

Fixed.

Counter-Strike is what spawned this entire cult of multiplayer games. OG games like CS, Diablo, and Starcraft is the reason why multiplayer has blossomed into the competitive scene that it is today. RESPECT MA AUTHORITA!
Nah.. Quake / Quake CTF did.

Imagine Quake if they had removed Rocket Jumping and Bunny Hopping from the game--that's what Valve did to CS :/

What did Valve remove that made that large of a difference?

AWP Quick-Switching and Bunny Hopping (in all forms) are the major ones. They just changed a lot of mechanics to "Balance" the game that never really needed to be done--made certain weapons terribly inaccurate, randomized the spray patterns, etc.

a railgun doesn't belong in a tactical shooter. I could shoot your toe through a wall with the AWP and you would die. 24/7 de_dust [NO AWP].

CS:S and its predecessors are indeed one of the best FPS games ever may it be played with real people or even bots(my connection is to slow for LAN:mad:). I even became addicted to this game.

Hope I would be able to run this.

It's kinda funny thinking back to how much I hated the original HL1 CS mod and all tactical shooters in general...now it's prayers to Valve to save us from more tired CoD and BF console editions. I would love to see a game type in CS that is similar to Day of Defeat. All they would have to do is make 4-8 pre-made kits as the classes and let people go to work porting over the tried and true DoD maps that are balanced with modern textures.

False. On average an AWP leg shot (waist down) does 81 damage. Walls remove about 1/3 of the damage from projectiles in Counter-Strike, meaning an AWP shot through a wall into the legs does roughly 45-55 damage. The AWP is hardly a railgun considering it is still heavily affected by movement and you have to stop yourself to fire it to have a reasonable chance of hitting your target. Quick-Switching allowed people to play better angles with the AWP since they could have their Deagle out to counter a close range through, and easily switch to their AWP and quick-scope for a long range threat. It also made the AWP a lot more effective for countering rushes.

before version 1.3 the AWP was one shot kill no matter where you hit.

The AWP is no longer as powerful as it once was. The AWP was the most powerful it ever was in all versions prior to Counter-Strike 1.3, where one shot to any part of the body was an instant kill. Later updates reduced its effectiveness: Counter-Strike 1.3 made the leg shot non-lethal and Counter-Strike 1.5 made it so that the AWP and pistols took longer to switch to, as well as making the AWP extremely inaccurate without using the scope, crippling the AWP's effectiveness in close-quarters; Counter-Strike 1.6 drastically increased the time to scope in, which was criticized as making it nearly worthless. Players quickly got used to the newly nerfed AWP. The latest update to Counter-Strike once again reduced the scope time. A brand new flaw is the "Quick switch" glitch. Many players use it to reduce the time between each shots by switching to another weapon during the bolt animation. This glitch still exists in Counter-Strike: Source and has yet has to be fixed.

and this is where you'll seperate the assumers from those of us that were there.

Is some of the balancing they did annoying? sure. Does it make it a bad game? No, not by any means.

I never did play any of the beta's but I did get in with CS 1.0 I've played every version since and while I agree I like CS 1.5 ( not 1.6) better than source, I still would prefer CS:Source over most other shooters out there.

it seems to me like that fool would love to spend his entire life playing an old school beta...so wtf is stopping him? Oh wait huge, tl:dr rants. He should just game rather than hate. Nothing's stopping you from modding the new game after it comes out to suit your needs. Or is everyone a complete whiner without any skill whatsoever these days?

I've tried to hold back for ages now, but I just have to ask...

So? Why does that even matter? If you don't like it then don't play it? I'm struggling to understand your mindset.
