Cpu comparison!

so im trying to find a program i can compare my CPU with or see what level its working at..i heard of a program called sandra or something? if anyone knows what program it is..and or a link to the dl i'd much appriciate it thanks

i went off sandra as a cpu comparison when it started giving a dual core exactly double the score of a single core at the same clock speed..

its just meaningless nonsense in my oppinion.. handy for some things just useless for real life performance comparisons..

I agree m8, I find Sandra inaccurate (and biased towards AMD)

i dont think any synthetic benchmark can give a dual core cpu real life perfromance figure..

simply doubling the figures compared to a single core at the same speed is quite clearly rubbish..

dual cores have kinda muddied the water somewhat..

yeah i used it and noticed all it did was double it thanks everyone ;-\ thats basically what i dont get...benchmarks make you kinda feel like crap when you see the results if there not that good...

benchmarks massively exagerate real life gains.. they always have..

yeah its after you invest so much hopeing to see the program give you a better performance gain ...and all the sudden its either like 100 points higher or ..the same if not less ha...i hate benchmarks

for example

My system

Amd Athlon XP 3800+ AM2 Dualcore (o/ced to 2.40ghz)
1.5gigs of PQI Turbo Ram (ddr2 800)
200gig SATA2 Maxtor drive
40 gig WD standard IDE Drive
Powercolor x800gto 256mb gddr 3
Gigabyte mobo with nvidia nforce4 chipset

and in 3dmark05 i get 4642 marks...
that seems pretty low...:\

its about right for your grfx card.. and with frame rates where u are its represenative of real life gameing.. one benchmark that with your system is telling a reasonably true story..

your system is well and truely gpu bound.. the only way to improve your gaming is with a new grfx card.. there have been some big price drops recently.. a card with twice the grunt wont cost a fortune any more.. twice the grunt will take your score up to 7 or 8 thousand-sh and do the same for your gaming frame rates..

256 of memory is enough u just need something like an 1800xt or slighly better..

ps.. spending money on anything else will be wasted.. in your case u need a better grfx card..

ps.. 2.. do not buy a lesser card thinking that cos it has 512 memory onboard it will help.. 512 wont help in the slightest its gpu and memory speed u need..

yeah i know the memory isnt all its worth...i got the x800gto on sale (at the time) for 89 dollars..so i wasnt complaining ...hm looks like i'll give this one to my girlfriend have her put money towards a new one for me thanks a bunch
