I recently built a computer for a friend who unknowingly had it on a bad backup battery, his area is also plagued with power outages and the backup battery does nothing to soften the blows, with this is mind here we go.
>Computer refused to boot, all case fans jolted (didn't spin but just shook and went dead)
>Tested a different psu, same result
>Removed 4pin cpu connector and all the fans came on and the pc stayed on (nocpu=nopost)
>Changed motherboard, to a GA-H61M-DS2 rev2.2 so, it supports the g1620 out of the box apparently.
Current symptoms after board change:
>Computer now in a boot loop, everything powers on for 1-2 seconds then reboots doing it again in an infinite loop until power is disconnected.
>Removed 4pin cpu connector and everything stayed on.
During all of this testing, ram was replaced and tested in other systems and they are fine, gpu was also tested and it checked out, everything was checked on the motherboard box to ensure no shorting, minimal components used to rule out faulty usb, hd,gpu etc.
So, I am completely stumped and any advice would be appreciated right now, did a power surge kill the cpu and previous mobo?
