Hi.

I have an old AMD HD 7750 (yea, I overclocked the hell out of it, max VDDC, from 1125 to 1300 VDDC, and from 800 core clock to 1200 (actually, top 1 on usersbenchmark ) and I want to buy a new CPU for it. I want an AMD cpu too, but with good IPC and single-thread performance... I looked for myself an FX 6300, but I guess it's too overkill for my GPU, and then I saw FX 4350, but it's only 4 core (i don't really want a 125tpd cpu) :/ My question is, what top 3-5 cpu do you recommend for this GPU (7750 with 7770 performance). I need it for gaming, GTA V, CSGO,PUBG etc. I need it only for avr 2 years, so that's why I want a cheap one.

You're not gonna do GTAV on a 7770, and it doesn't matter what chip you pair with it.

I reached 40 fps with my old CPU, very high texture and rest low, so please... I questioned another thing (i know how to squeeze out every fps from games)

No AMD FX, at this point, not unless you get one - at least FX6300 - for really, really cheap. I would look for a used Haswell i3 or Sandy/Ivy i5/i3. The motherboards will be the big cost there.

Unless you alredey have a decent AM3+ motherboars with proper power delivery, then by all means get at least a FX6300 and overclock it as far as you can. But in almost every single case an FX CPU is a terrible buy right now.

I use an FX 6300 with a GTX 1060 and I game on it just fine for 1080p 60fps.

Get something with at least 4 threads.

If you want to buy new a g4560 is great.

True , but the point was that he'll be fine with this CPU should he want to buy one , he will be limited by the GPU at all times.

So what do you have now? For a cpu?

To say you want single thread proformance and then you want AMD is conflicting information. Intel has better single thread proformance and the Pentium cost no more that a fx. As far as the 7770 a potato could run that gpu

I5-2300, after too high oc both cpu/mobo failed, and I even fcked the ram. I saw at two close friend(one have fx 8370 other 9590) that they are actually very good in multi-threaded games, but weak in single core... I don't want intel anymore, 7700 heat problems, and i9 basically a xeon renamed only for marketing...

Mmmm what? I hope you mean the 7700k.

The heat issues are more commonly from people overclocking stupidly after seeing some professional hit 5ghz+ and then complaining that it ran hot. Anything AMD from that time period is absolutely pathetic unless you manage to get over 4.5ghz and even then it barely keeps up.

I used to have a FX-6300, it was depressing. You're better off getting a used 2500 or up.

I really doubt you killed the CPU. Intel CPU are pretty tough. The board and memory sure, probably dead. See if you can get someone to test it. The i7 7700K does not have heat problem and overclocks like a beast so I don't know where your getting this information but Intel is the way to go unless you want to try the new Ryzen platform. Anything else from AMD and your taking a huge step backwards

you probably 'failed' with the i5-2300 because Its locked by the multiplier, you could increase BCLK clock but voltages will also be locked so there will be a limit to how far you can push it -- you might be able to squeeze an extra 200-300mhz out of the chip.

Just remember -- even though you might be able to change the multiplier or CPU voltage, that doesnt mean any change has been made as its a 'locked' processor. grab a second hand 2500k or 3770k and it will totally smoke the FX6300.

at the same time I know youre not interested in hearing peoples opinions as youve mentioned that youre sticking with the idea of going with the FX6300.

Enjoy your mediocre performance.

When your options are slim that's still a good move

Sure, if that is literally his only option, or if he gets the CPU for no more than €50 AND can find a decent OC-friendly motherboard for cheap. Like no more than ... €60 or so for both CPU and mobo. Because at that price point you can find Sandy i5s + motherboard, and which one is the best buy? The sandy i5.
