Hi everyone
I'm sure this question has been asked a gazilion times, so im sure you wont mind another.

I'm running a Q9300 stock (2.5ghz) EIST off with arctic cooler 7 pro rev 2 and having pretty dismal temps.

i get 57C on most demanding games i play (bad company 2, crysis etc)

I know its not in the danger zone, but i am definitely wanting to lower that for my psu's sake

Is there any coolers you recommend me buying that will fit a NZXT BETA case.

other facts:
Cleaned cpu + cooler and added new thermal compound.
added a fan at the back to vent out hot air.
cpu volt at 1.1v

I am leaning towards your case cooling or ambient temperatures. Adding one fan may not have been enough.

the amount of fans doesn't mean anything. its the amount of air they push out, and your ambient temperature.

I hate to say it but it has been brought up many times but the arctic cooler 7 pro cooler isnt really enough for a high end quad. i had one on a E5200 Oced to 3.6ghz and it stinked. I would personally recommend a new cooler

hmmm looks like that NZXT BETA might be able to fit a Coolit or a corsair H50

don't quote me on that though.

EDIT: confirmed. It does.

They do push a fair amount of air in. im inclined to believe the cpu cooler just isnt cutting it. Whats the best bang for the buck cooler atm??

Totally agree regarding the AC 7. Although, you are still definitely safe and do not need to move to a different cooler. If you are looking at switching it out though, DonInKansas has a nice Thermaltake Frio BNIB for $50 shipped.

EDIT:

Just wanted to state, I also had an e5200@ 3.7ghz 1.31v that I was crunching and it stayed at 63C 24.7 for days crunching. The chip is still alive and kicking, running beautifully.

Well for stock clocks on a Q9400 its pretty high :(

Take it from me with my own personal intel clocking days. Temps alone will not kill a CPU if you are still under the TJ Max for it. A combination of abnormally high volts (1.4v+ 45nm/1.5v+ 65nm) with high temps(60C+) will.

I would try a H50 with push/pull fan.

My money on the Hyper 212 plus or the Xigmatek dark knight, both of them are quite cheap and will lower your temps.

akasa 450 silver compound. It worked quite well for other systems i've used it in.
