Cpu sweet spot for a gtx 1070

I now have the money for a gtx 1070 for my 3440x1440 100hz g sync monitor and was wondering what the sweetspot for a cpu is, currently i have a i5 6600k at 4.0 ghz on all cores all the time, max speed is 4x4.0 ghz

What about a gtx 1080?

I'm playing doom and my gpu is fine if my monitor where a 60 hz monitor,first game where i might not quet get the later 80's or highe fps at medium graphic

Other new games i have project cars 1,BF1, dirt rally and doom (2016), i do how ever mostly play older racing games need for speed shift unleashed 2, dirt 3 and project cars

a 6600K with a 1080/1070 will always game better at 1440p than a 7700K with a 1060 unless you're running an outlier game. I think for that rez you can even go with a 1080Ti and be fine.

That being said a faster CPU will boost your frames esp with a 1080 and above.

have the enough money? get it, also if enough penny, get GTX 1080ti and get a GPU that might last for 2 years being so kickass, technology improves every day, so get the best bang for your buck at the moment, be wise, try to look for future proof hardware!

well yes, it exists, making a future proof rig consists in a selection of some hardware that might ensure the computer will hold performance for 3 years at least, being solid enough to run quality settings, providing a smooth user experience, take a look of some i7 based builds of previous generations, they still rock, same for some users of enthusiast grade hardware, i do recognize that isnt cheap, but at least the final user will be happy user of the same rig for some years, need moar details ?

for example, this is me with my pile of old hardware being ultra happy

bios version is 86.04.26.00.70 it could be one of the cards BUT it's the FTW cards that have 10+2 power phase which i think is a big difference compared to the other cards with only 4+1 power phase 215 watt vs 170 watt

Trying to find some numbers to get an idea of vcore at 4.2 ghz i use my cpu 80% playing projectcars and want oc it til 4.2ghz atm it's at 4.0 on all core and 1.175ghz

i wonder ... i am at 4.4 on auto voltage ... most of the time it does not go above 1.260v (i only did set the multi at 44 nothing fancy )

and turbo off :oops:

Tried 4.2 ghz at the same 1.175ghz and projectcars, it was fine peaked for 1 sec at 83% usage but settled around 75% usage

Remember it's an i7 6700 that definitely needs more vcore because of ht (but how much compared to the i5 6600k i don't know)

had it one periode on 1.300 volt and peaked at 1.344volt

Once has i5 4590 3.7ghz on all cores alle the timeand gtx 1060 6gb it used my cpu around 95% in projectcars still on a 3440x1440 100hz monitor, project cars is definitely a game that uses alot of cpu like rise of tomb raider, it just uses alot of ram
