Don't mean to steal a thread, but this has been driving me nuts. Is would it be better for me to (see specs at left) get an Opty 165 CCBBE, or get a new mobo, CPU, and RAM and go C2D? I saw a post in another thread and the guy said he wished he hadn't sold his CCBBE for a C2D because there wasn't too much of a noticable difference other than in benchmarks. The thing is, his system specs didn't say if his C2D was OCed or not.
whether or not his c2d is oc'd really doesnt make a difference in a gaming scenario. rarely are u limited by the processor with this generation graphics cards, and the fps increase at higher resolutions will of course be minimal. the video encoding and rendering times will be the only major difference at this point in time. however if ur not gonna be upgrading for a while go for the c2d cuz most of the benifits are yet to be seen (sse4 and raw power overall). theres a thread on xs about it u may wanna look there
