Its only an upgrade if you have need of more than the 16 gig the I5 can handle
If you paid for the X3470 then to be Honest you wasted money

I actualy noticed increased performance from the i5, but it came at a cost.
Now my CPU Cooler cant keep up with the Xeon OCed at 3.8 or 3.9 and it thermal throttles hitting 80 to 85C while on load.
Turned down my OC to 3.5 and now it is ok, but ill think about getting an AIO for it.

I had to do that when I upgraded to my hexacore CPU. My single rad AIO couldnt keep up and my load temps OCd were around 100*C. And since I crunch for TPU, that was bad news. So I upgraded to an H100i v2 and my temps typically dont go above 72*C at full load.

Good upgrade. It is worth it for 10€. Don't know why people are saying it's a sidegrade, it is an upgrade.
It's a i7 870 with a better memory controller and compared to LGA1366 it performs the same as a i7 950.
