I know Nvidia just announced a call to arms to retailers to help combat unstable availability and pricing by limiting purchase quantities, but it seems to me that is not going to get it done. The only way out of this I see is the manufacture of an affordable tier of workstation cards, combined with global legislation requiring bit coin mining data be encrypted with a special code that only these GPUs can unlock. Otherwise just make bit coins illegal and thus worthless, which I think is the best option since bit coin mining seems to be as damaging to the economy as piracy, if not worse.

After some chat and articles I've read recently, I thought CPU and RAM prices were as much out of control, but the 8700k is steadily dropping in price to now $380, and 16GB of 3200 DDR4 is regularly on sale, sometimes for $186. Mining is the one ugly scar on the face of the gaming economy that is in desperate need of legislation.

Thoughts?

Frag clearly posted cause he wants a new GPU, Yeah it could have been added on another thread. I'm sick n tired of waiting for an affordable GPU, not hating on miners as if it were more simple hell id be doing it too.
But there has to be a way to fix this mess, the GPU makers love it. AMD is reaping the benefits. Even Nvidia who claims to be monitoring purchases :slap:, we just want to game............

As said in another thread, I just grabbed a pair of 1080ti's and didn't pay anything over used value as if life was normal.
Happily gaming, not affected by mining or the "price hike!" It can be done, or I wouldn't have upgraded ;)

this was in stock yesterday & today, but has since been sold out (till feb3), but its price is encouraging, meaning the fact that it is representative of its actual (non mining) affected FAIR retail worth...hopefully things start heading in this direction. IMO a 1050ti 4Gb LP Should be a bit more Pricey than its standard sized counterparts, so $180 is IMO reasonable...i paid $140'ish for a 750ti years ago which was also LP.

roughly about the same as a 1080 card is now priced at.. people can still game but maybe not at the same setting they could do for the same money..

Eventually more companies will stop accepting virtual coins... Some already are.

Then prices will get better.

1050ti is a piece of crap for the going price of $200, its basically same as GTX 770 in performance. Thats a card from 2013. They might as well just buy a GTX 770 for $80 on the second hand market if that is the option available. I think the 770 is slightly faster actually.

That this could have easily been added to any other thread hating on mining that is currently active.
You should see the PC groups on facebook, omg its beyond horrible but funny at the same time. So much negative vibes towards miners.

Its not the virtual coins, its mostly from the transactions costs and waiting for confirmation with BTC/bitcoin.

Lovely way of showing comrodery.
Tired of the victim mentality. If you need a card buy one. It just takes a little bit extra effort now. I got an offer to purchase >400 GPU's at a price that is acceptable. All Zotac new in box with warranty.

You should see the PC groups on facebook, omg its beyond horrible but funny at the same time. So much negative vibes towards miners.
I am blocked in a few of those. Apparently showing a pallet of cards being loaded up into a truck isn't a funny joke. Even if you didn't have anything to do with it.

I wouldn't buy a Zotac to game on, give me a deal? @sneekypeet, I wouldn't buy used during this time.
What are you looking to pay for one

Honestly, I feel a lot of gamers would be amazed in how little time their "old gpus" can buy a brand new one by evening-only mining.

there really is some dumb thinking in these crypto threads.. jeesh.. crypto is to valuable to actually spend.. unless you are so desperately poor you have too.. `:)

No sir. Not going to either.

@jaggerwild no issues buying used if the source is reputable. Mine was, cards lightly used, never mined on.

Software lots of movies and Windows 10 with win 7 shell
Benchmark Scores High enough for me
Tired of the victim mentality. If you need a card buy one. It just takes a little bit extra effort now. I got an offer to purchase >400 GPU's at a price that is acceptable. All Zotac new in box with warranty.

I am blocked in a few of those. Apparently showing a pallet of cards being loaded up into a truck isn't a funny joke. Even if you didn't have anything to do with it.

What are you looking to pay for one
I'm still waiting to get blocked from my 1st one. Its kinda hard or admin dont care about it.
I keep throlling the group with my homemade Home Depot metal shelves. At this point I just do it for the laughs.

I didn't say I spend it, I said I accept it. ;)

Also think crypto is inflated, but don't think it's going to drop for a few years yet... and it will give plenty of warning signs.

Whoa, mining damaging the economy? I don't think so. High end GPUs being out of stock doesn't constitute economy damage...
