Radeon Software Crimson ReLive Edition 17.1.1 Highlights

Support For

  • Resident Evil™ 7: Biohazard
Fixed Issues

  • Dishonored™2 may experience an application crash or hang on some Radeon R9 380 configurations.
  • Radeon ReLive may show an improper warning popup message when using Windows®7 basic themes.
  • AMD XConnect™ Technology configurations may experience a blue screen system hang when audio drivers load.
  • Solidworks™ will no longer terminate on unplug using AMD XConnect™ Technology configurations.
  • Some system configurations may experience a black screen after installing Radeon Software Crimson ReLive Editions 16.12.1 and later.
  • Display corruption or TDR may be experienced after applications wake up from a display timeout.
  • Paragon™ may experience flickering in Multi GPU with DirectX®11.
  • Radeon ReLive may crash or become unresponsive when toggling Multi GPU with Desktop Recording and/or Instant Replay enabled.
Known Issues

  • A small amount of apps may still experience issues with Borderless Fullscreen mode and AMD FreeSync™ technology if other applications or game launchers are running on the primary screen in the background.
  • Counter-Strike™: Global Offensive and World of Warcraft™ may experience flickering or performance issues the first time the game is launched on a system boot with AMD FreeSync™ technology enabled. Workarounds include exiting and restarting the application or task switching (alt+tab) in and out of the game to fix the issue.
  • Shadow Warrior 2™ may experience an application hang when launched with Multi GPU enabled.
  • Radeon RX 400 series products may experience scaling issues for some applications when using the display scaling feature.

Known Issues for Radeon ReLive

  • The XBOX™ DVR application may cause conflicts with Radeon ReLive, users are suggested to disable XBOX™ DVR if Radeon ReLive is experiencing issues.
  • Radeon ReLive may fail to install on AMD APU Family products or experience a system hang or failure to record when using the recording feature on AMD APU Family products.
  • Radeon ReLive may stop working after hot unplugging of a secondary display.
  • Battlefield™1 may experience UI flickering and/or performance drops when recording gameplay with Radeon ReLive on graphics products with 4GB or less of VRAM.
  • Radeon ReLive recordings or overlay may experience flicker when creating a single recording for many hours.
  • Radeon ReLive may experience minor graphical corruption for the first few recorded frames when launching UWP applications.
  • Radeon ReLive will not allow recording settings to change with Instant Replay enabled. A workaround is to disable Instant Replay and change settings then enable Instant Replay.
  • Vulkan™ applications may experience a game hang when using Radeon ReLive to record.
  • Radeon ReLive will not notify an end user of low disk space during recording.

Wasn't this just a meaningless WHQL certified version of 16.12.2?
No, it adds support for RE7. 16.12.2 doesn't.

Here's some weird tidbits though. 16.12.2 WHQL, although appearing to be the same driver as the non WHQL of same build, is MUCH larger in file size (495MB) , while 17.1.1 is only 366 MB. Plus I can't get 16.12.2 WHQL to install Radeon Settings, and 17.1.1 won't install Radeon Settings OR ReLive. 16.12.2 WHQL also introduced a crap load of bad artifacts for me playing Mafia III.

Thus I'm going to try rolling back to 16.10.1 WHQL to see if I can get better stability and use of Radeon Settings and ReLive. Anymore I'm not sure their WHQL drivers are more stable though. It's continued software blunders that's going to have me going back to Nvidia, not their hardware.

maybe you need to use DDU first. I stopped having driver install problems ever since I started using that. and NVidia isn't without their own problems. amd looks very good by comparison right now

I've tried DDU before, since for some reason a lot of people rave about it. It left a lot of AMD tidbits behind that Driver Sweeper found. I've tried this just with AMD's new Clean Install, and with Driver Sweeper. Neither way works. Using AMD's Uninstall Utility combined with a Driver Sweeper follow up always worked before, not now.

Well I do have MSI Afterburner installed now. It's mainly to monitor my GPU temp and fan speed after setting a higher fan speed due to one of my GPU fans having died. I only just installed it after 17.1.1 installed just the display driver though, so that wasn't the cause of it.

Radeon Settings have been problematic for a lot of people ever since Crimson though. At some point AMD is going to have to own up to the fact that they suck at software, and let someone capable take over those duties.

LOL, like there's not anyone else fed up with AMD's problematic software? Who are you kidding? Good hardware is nothing without good software. Most people want to make use of all the options they can, not just install the display driver.

Not baiting. Been here myself for sometime, he has helped me in person with a troubling issue.

Yeah it's quite hypocritical I'm accused of click bait when that is in fact what they are doing. I really can't think of one AMD customer whom hasn't had at least one or two functions not work for them, whether it be scaling, frame rate target control, or a slew of things. Seems TPU's clique of trolls is getting larger every day.

No software is perfect, and if you think nVidia produces only perfect software, well, I have some bad news for you ...

I understand your trouble. My issue resulted in me pestering them on the driver bug report and 2 topics on the atiesrxx.exe not working on 7 from 16.5.2/16.6.1-16.11.2s, they fixed it after I had a temporary fix lol. I believr cdawall might have 1 last ditch effort on this trouble before amd forums need to be combed.

I've spent time on both AMD and Nvidia. I don't expect perfection, but I expect them to be as competitive with their software as they are with their hardware, and AMD isn't doing that.

So did I and have had fair share of problems with both. Just keep reporting the issues through their Issue Reporting Form. If it's not fixed in newest driver release, report it again. As for any software, they obviously can't fix it if it's not reproducible, so include as many details possible. Good luck!

I'm surely not a white Knight of amd. There are plenty of examples of me cursing the software to be found. I have consistently run into issues with crimsons overclocking resetting when you restart the computer and flagging "wattman has been reset due to whatever the hell it's issue was today"

But on that note I have overclocking features, fan control, overvolting built into a reasonably well setup driver. I have had my share of issues with nvidia drivers as well. Both companies have a habit of releasing imperfect shit. I will however continue to overclock through the driver and prefer it over downloading a 3rd party program.

Also for note I have 17. Whatever and relive/Radeon tools work fine on my pair of 480's. I also do not use ddu or driver sweeper or whatever if the driver can't figure out how to be upgraded in place without special tools then it's not for me.

He doesn't seem to want help just to vent. At this point clean install is always my suggestion. You never know what is up with his OS and what is missing that has nothing to do with AMD. I have seen more than enough end users block updates for X and have it affect Y.
