I'll take the X-fi out and try the onboard sound to see if that helps. Hopefully the onboard ADI Blackhawk doesn't suck like Realtek's! I'll get back to y'all, have to get ready to leave for St Louis for a Disturbed concert.

I've got an ADI Blackhawk (soundmax 2000BX) sounds really good to me!

Even if it is a process of elimination. It might be that grid doesnt like your sound card/drivers. Are you right up to date?

creative drivers are full of *cough* and *mumble*, so there is a good shot its actually a creative problem here and not crossfire at all.

Yes I am. I really like the Daniel_k drivers but cleaned the system of all Creative drivers and installed the newest ones.

Your using a X-FI. Creative cards are junk. Theres endless reports of the X-FI making weird clicking noises in games an stuff, apparently "the mainboard chipset is to blame" according to Creative.. which is of course utter BS. Even users that bought a mobo from a manufacturer that included the "fix" in a BIOS update still have the issue. Remove anything to do with Creative and the X-FI from your system and try just using the onboard audio with the latest drivers.

I threw the Soundmax driver on after cleaning the Creative stuff off. No clicking sound, no random freezes, and now a Creative card just sitting on the table. This really sucks cause now I have a 150 buck card just sitting. Thanks for the recommendation guys cause now I can kick some ass in GRID!

Horray! :toast: Got it fixed.

If you want another sound card get an azuzen one. And bta said the PCI ones if you have an nvidia mobo.

I wouldnt, I'm perfectly happy with my onboard, less power and heat too!

Is this one any good, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829156006, or is the Prelude the only one worth getting? Prelude is just alot of money.
the X-mystique and X-plosion only really differ in that one does dolby digital live, while the other does DTS as well.

my mystique is great and better than my audigy 4 in every way, so i can assume that the x-plosion being a newer/higher model would surpass it even further.

Here's the email I received this morning from Creative:

Dear Joshua,

Thank you for contacting Creative Labs regarding your X-Fi sound card.

I understand from your email that you have clicking sound on your game
but resolved by installing on-board audio. I'm sorry for any
inconvenience this is causing you. Please let me assist you.

Please try to reinstall your sound card. Before physically installing or
connecting your Creative audio products, make sure to remove, uninstall
or disable any preinstalled sound card or onboard audio (refer to
main-board manual or vendor/manufacturer). Restart the system at least
once before installing a new device.
Perform a clean sweep. Then shut down your PC. Unplug the sound card
from system. Proceed to boot up without the sound card. Make sure there
is no errors on Windows. Again, shut down your PC.
Now replug in the sound card. Boot up into Windows with the sound card.
Upon Windows remember to cancel out the hardware detection if it
automatically finds the sound card. This will prevent Windows from
installing its own generic driver. Continue to reinstall the driver from
installation CD or download through from our web site.

I guess they think I'm an idiot! The system has been working awesome since I took that card out and this morning MVP 05(07 Mod) played like a dream!! No hiccups in sound or stuttering home runs! I can't believe this little fuking sound card was the root to most of my problems. I guess I'm just going to ebay the piece of crap since I have no heat to sell it on TPU.
