I am getting some upgrades and was considering putting off getting another vidcard but I saw this http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16814131047 and was intrigued, I was planning on getting one of these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102075 and a second later or now to run CF on my Asus A8R32 MVP, the cards are similar in specs except the X1950XT can't do CF but it is a real fast card but Crossfire is sorta why I got this board.
I got three s939 machines so I am definately getting one more gpu so the kids dont have to use the onboard gpu in their rig forever. I was going to wait till ATI releases there DX10 cards but Vista works great on my X800 GTO and X1900gt, but when I built this rig I got a CF certified PSU, but only for x1900 series and I am most assuredly going to have to upgrade that again as its only 580w (Hiper 580 series) abd ATI's DX10 vidcards are most likely going to need alot more.
So I am firm on getting another card but should I just get the Powercolor X1950XT with no CF support (but w/VIVO which i would use),or go for the 2 Sapphire cards x1950Pro's. Would they run faster with internal crossfire than one card with really high clocks? They both have 512mb frame buffer which is what i want. And i can probably stretch my budget to get the 2 Sapphire 512mb Pro cards now which is kinda what I really want, or I can just do CF when ATI's DX10 cards have matured and wait. But that XT looks mighty tempting, read over this http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/power_x1950xt/ for more info on the Powercolor card.
This is a tough one I am really on the fence with this choice, so please feel free to throw out more suggestions, and VIVO is no deal breaker and I can always add a TV tuner card later if i want PVR and stuff.
Also, yes 8800s are the best DX10 cards in the world but if I wanted to go with Nvidia I would've gotten an SLI board not a Crossfire one. Also although I already have an x1900gt I am not interested in doing "software" crosffire and am only interested in doing internal CF hence the interest in the x1950 pro cards.
