I am getting some upgrades and was considering putting off getting another vidcard but I saw this http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16814131047 and was intrigued, I was planning on getting one of these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102075 and a second later or now to run CF on my Asus A8R32 MVP, the cards are similar in specs except the X1950XT can't do CF but it is a real fast card but Crossfire is sorta why I got this board.

I got three s939 machines so I am definately getting one more gpu so the kids dont have to use the onboard gpu in their rig forever. I was going to wait till ATI releases there DX10 cards but Vista works great on my X800 GTO and X1900gt, but when I built this rig I got a CF certified PSU, but only for x1900 series and I am most assuredly going to have to upgrade that again as its only 580w (Hiper 580 series) abd ATI's DX10 vidcards are most likely going to need alot more.

So I am firm on getting another card but should I just get the Powercolor X1950XT with no CF support (but w/VIVO which i would use),or go for the 2 Sapphire cards x1950Pro's. Would they run faster with internal crossfire than one card with really high clocks? They both have 512mb frame buffer which is what i want. And i can probably stretch my budget to get the 2 Sapphire 512mb Pro cards now which is kinda what I really want, or I can just do CF when ATI's DX10 cards have matured and wait. But that XT looks mighty tempting, read over this http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/power_x1950xt/ for more info on the Powercolor card.

This is a tough one I am really on the fence with this choice, so please feel free to throw out more suggestions, and VIVO is no deal breaker and I can always add a TV tuner card later if i want PVR and stuff.

Also, yes 8800s are the best DX10 cards in the world but if I wanted to go with Nvidia I would've gotten an SLI board not a Crossfire one. Also although I already have an x1900gt I am not interested in doing "software" crosffire and am only interested in doing internal CF hence the interest in the x1950 pro cards.

Newegg is down, nothing I can do, but I decided to go with 2xX1950 pros in CF instead of the new Powercolor X1950XT that cant crossfire. I am going to wait till after May 14 cause I heard there are going to be price drops, still not sure if I am going with the HIS version or Sapphire. It looks like sapphire might have changed their PCB and cooler for their Pro models, I thought they had one like the x1900gt models that went completely over the card. The HIS version has copper cooler on the rear components that might help with overclocking a little more, who knows (if anyone can confirm Sapphire has changed their X1950 pro model around please post, thanx).

That MB is made for Crossfire,...I saw major gains when I went CF.My vote is for CF:rockout:

I have a Crossfire board too, Abit AT8 32X, with a Opteron 185. I had a XFX 6800 GS in it and now I picked up a X1950XTX. I will be on the lookout for a Crossfire card now.

I hear many problems with game through crossfire configuration. Maybe the driver is not ready yet?

Now that you mention it, that is weird. I got the link from the techpowerup review database.

So which version X1950 pro should I get the HIS or the Sapphire. Warranty histories count too. Other contenders are out because I gotta keep each card below $200, Also is sapphire the only company shipping their pros with the bridge connectors?

I think I would go with Sapphire, they have good quality and a decent warranty. ...HIS does have a great reputation. Anything can break, but usually it does so in short order if overclocking is not involved and it had a defect....or even faster with overclocking.

I still would go Sapphire.

The x1950pro Crossfire from Asus ships with 2 bridge connectors (I have that version).

Just went with the 2900XT, better choice I think since I was going to get 2 pro cards for around the same price anyway but thanx for the advice.

Twin X1950pros in CF should be quicker (especially at higher reesolutions) than a single (even overclocked) X1950XT although by how much I don't know.

If it was my choice (and going by UK prices) I would just stick in a 8800GTS 320mb for £170 (which IIRC from reviews performs near CF X1950pro performance) rather than getting 2 seperate X1950pros for roughly £200.

However I doubt you will be dissapointed with the CF performance and as you say you got the CF motherboard to do CF.
