Anyway a Gainward GTX 260 GS is about 135 EUR around here , and it clocks really high ( @725+ , ive seen higher ) , kicks GTX`s 275 and 280 ass ( most of the time ) , and sits dangerously close to a stock GTX285 . So hell yea , single card FTW .... buy another , beat the GTX295 and pay 40% less money . A great deal imo.
A pair of HD4770's beats the stock HD4890 ( lets say 10% better overall performance ) , and have lower power consumption in full load , . If you don`t have the money , buy just one and upgrade when you have the chance . Another great deal . The other great thing to know is that a PHENOM II x2 550 is enough to get the full performance from the cards . Less money you have to spend , more upgrade options . The scaling is good even with 3x HD4770's in x16/x8/x8 . There is a hardware review website from Germany that tested that configuration .

Lets remeber not all games are multi GPU optimised , and less are quadcore optimised . So in the near future dual card setups might benefit more from better game engines . I don`t know .. maybe it`s just me , but i played Crysis for two weeks and i got bored , so my dual gtx 260's are "useless" now . But i`m looking forward to get my hands on Mafia III , Split Second , Assassins Creed II , COD MW II , knowing my setup can run the games and provide more than decent performance so i can enjoy them ...
LATER EDIT : found out that ZOTAC just released the most powerful GTX260 ( overclocking monster ) , Panasonic SP-Caps , Renesas LFPAK mosfets , 15 power phases 12 are dedicated to the GPU and the remaining three handle the memory , Nippon Chemi-Con’s Proadlizer decoupling capacitors . STOCK : 750/1600/1200MHz core / shader / memory .
The card is expected to be available in Chinese market next month, with lower pricing than GeForce GTX275. Zotac is also working on a GeForce GTX285 with 15 phase PWM design as well.
Whatever .. check the numbers .
http://www.expreview.com/img/review/15pgtx260/OC.jpg 800MHZ core with overclocking , 820MHZ ( maximum stable overclock with the 3dparty cooler they used ) . The card can go beyond those frequencies , and in case your wondering , yes it beats the GTX 285 . So ? single card FTW ! But , we want a monster setup , lets buy a second card
Don`t know if it will be for US EU , maybe just for China ( Zotac is doing that lately )
