Crysis 2 Removed from Steam Due to 'origin'

It mostly seems that EA's chosen to start holding back its most recent and upcoming releases, in hopes of driving consumer traffic to its own service.

Figures. EA always has been and always will be about the money. EA probably has no problem taking advantage of GameStop, Amazon, and other download services because those publishers aren't developers too--unlike Valve.

That's crazy talk. Amazon has a damn near perfect system for selling games, unlike their books. Once you buy it, you wouldn't even know it came from there. No interface, period. Just like installing from a disk.

Which is why developers/publishers avoid it--not enough DRM.

EA commented on it, not Valve. I wouldn't believe EA until other games are pulled from other developers/publishers and that isn't going to happen. EA most likely used a minor, unrelated change in the agreement (like changing the year from 2010 to 2011) as an excuse to pull away so they can blame it on Valve, even though it had nothing to do with Valve.

I call shens...shift2 is still for sale on STEAM, and I bought it on "Origin" long ago, because it was cheaper.


If anything, it has to do with sale pricing or something, and the story, as it's told so far, has yet to see it's end. I remain skeptical.

but i dont use Direct 2 drive
i dont use Impulse
i dont use anything other then steam

its simple its easy has good deals, community features allows game mods, hosts screenshots, etc, i wont go anywhere else for games so if its not on steam i wont buy it. Ill just resort to other means to play those games.

You really need to look at Origin again my friend,It has all the same features as Steam,In game overlay is shift+F1 ...All you guys squawking about it need to look at first,And what if EA decides to do what Valve has done ,Buy a hard copy (AKA MW2) and need to install Steam,Seems to me if they are holding some games back it would be for that reason.So live with it.I have it installed and it has not given me grief yet .

Ok look this happened way back in 2003 when STEAM was first online,What did you gys think would happen when Valve got rich from it,Some bean counters say hey i bet if we changed our EA down-loader to that we could do the same,And yes all Origin is a renamed EA Down Load Manager Also the EA Store ,I do know for a fact you can save the files it downloads from it to a DVD ,It will download just like a disc would look like from retail.At least it did when i got BC2 Vietnam .Damn i keep forgetting to say it is also tied yo your EA Accounts You know the one you log into lets say BC2 to play so if you have friends in there it will show in Origin.

To be honest, these wars to gain control of digital distribution do nothing for the customer. It would be nice if Valve obliged all developers to remove any third-party DRM before selling through Steam, it seems they can require other companies to release things in a certain manner if they wish to use Steam, so why not this?

Steam is far from perfect; however, slowly but surely it has monopolised the digital distribution market and it isn't going anywhere soon. I am not suggesting that other companies should refrain from competing with this service, but I for one have no wish to enter my bank details on various sites and open multiple accounts simply because the developers hope to force me to use an alternative. Steam, for all its warts, seems to be the logical choice given its acceptance within the community and service history.

If I have to miss out on a few games that I would otherwise have purchased, so be it.

difference is im not creating an all new friends list im not managing another service and its app, and as I prefer Digital copies to hard copies since its hard to get to a brick and motar store around here. I dont feel like finding out that my awesome Battlefield 3 pre order might be the same as Battlefield 2142 where i could buy it but 2 yrs later i have to buy it again. I greatly dislike EA and there service, If i wanted an alternative id turn to Impulse first after steam everything else can just get fucked.

Yeah everyone is quick to attack Steam. I will wait and see. To me it just sounds like they wanna sell BF3 on Orgin exclusively.

You don`t have too it will read your EA account friends or i should saY Origin friends from other games like BC2.As for hard copy it has that option in place already,Your not getting it ,If you download the files and have it saved on drive ,it will record to DVD like the store bought copy no need to re-down it again it saves to hard drive or dvd ,You guys will be more pissed when you buy BF3 and it will need ORIGIN TO INSTALL LIKE mW2 WAS WITH STEAM.

well at least with steam if a game sucks ass i can get a refund, no matter how shitty an EA game is ive never seen them go out of there way to refund me on there shit products, i honestly feel EA is inferior in every regard. I dont need another inferior service that provides me no actual benefit. and again if BF3 does need origin installed i just wont buy it. Ill stick to BC2 lol games are not a necessity. I can live without EA games lol

I did lol twice first time was when borderlands came out, the multiplayer was unstable and a piece of shit i demanded a refund as i did not get the game i wanted or the experience i was promised from gearbox.

cant remember what the other game was.... not really important tho.

I wanted to refund Crysis 2 so badly but never did cause I was under the impression that there were no refunds on steam.
