What do you like about it so far gameplay wise?
Any funny stories as of yet to share?

I always enjoyed how FarCry enemies constantly moved around, making them harder to hit. Crysis sees the return of that, but they have extended animations now. This one guy had my number, three back to back shots he leaned his head just a tad and dodged the bullet(s). I got frustrated and just ran up on him, grabbing him by the neck, which worked out well as another one popped out from behind the tree. I proceeded to shoot the second one while still choking the first, then retired him with a few (non strength mode) whacks to the face.

He shouldn't have called me a "yank."

The beta feels like an extended team deathmatch.. It's not, but a lot of players are new to the game and it feels like it's a lot of running around and shouting "Wow! Lol WTF nukes"! and so on.. But players has mature now, it feels like.

I think it's just fun. For some reason, I'm best at hunting down snipers.. Close combat isn't my strenght exactly, but I'm not a bad player. No fun stories to tell though, except the classic: Sneak up on a Gauss-sniper and steal his gun. ;)

Haven't played the demo yet. A thing that feels kinda odd though is that you can pump an enemy full of a full round with the SCAR in the torso, but then he survives. You must be good at headshots in this game. :p

I went through the different difficulty levels, and even at 'easy' the AI has nice scripting.

I did notice they take a lot of shots though.

I know lots of people over looked the flexibility that came with the large landscapes and what not in FarCry, but despite it being a somewhat arcadish shooter, you could very effectively use 'bush' tactics, to approach the enemy in a different manner than most. Obviously there's quite a bit of 'bush' in Crysis as well, and it seems using it to your advantage is helpful as well as rewarding like it was in FC. It's not as serious as a seven hour slow crawl through the jungles of Viet Nam, only to have travelled a hundred yards, but it's better than nothing :p

I came up on a guy by himself (I thought odd..) manning a gun in a Hummer so I dispatched him with a shot, but when he fell, he clipped the side of the gun and made a noise. An enemy came around the otherside of the road and I had to head shot him, as there wasn't any other option without giving myself away. But, in doing so, three enemies from down the other hillside had witnessed his body falling, so they came running up. I decided to slowly slip back off into the weeds and try to flank them. Unfortunatley the road and the cliff made this a bit difficult, so I had to lay low in the bushes for about ten minutes, while I watched them circle and wait for them to eventually space out. From there it was another fifteen minutes of putting myself into position, to grab them out from behind a tree or rock before the others could see. I managed to do this all without cloaking. I like the cloak, it can be helpful, I just don't like that it's there, tempting me to use it :p

At first I was a bit dissapointed that the crouch function was not toggle, rather it was momentary. Then, I realised this is very nice when you're IN a prone stance, because holding crouch will let you quickly raise your stance and move then releasing it to drop back into a prone position. I'd still like another mappable function for toggled crouch.

Anyone find a way to turn off the voice that tells you which stance you're in? Really ruins the moment at times when things are quiet.

My new funny story at the moment is that I got a little carried away with speed mode and I went full speed through a mass of bush and straight off a cliff, I landed smack into the side of a tree and it snapped hehe.

I haven't even installed the Sandbox, but is it even possible to make level modifications for the demo?

not sure if you actually mod a map and save it but i've been playing with the editor and added loads of stuff to the map and played it through the editor,

helicopters a bit crap but i'm used to the controls of desert combat choppers and crysis has really simplified the controls, the tac cannon is cool but you gotta watch for those falling rocks that splat you from miles away lol

Just found something I'm really disturbed with in the BETA: Rocket Launchers. I don't mind a few of them, but when there's 32 players and 20 of them wield rocket launchers things get boring.

there was really no need to do that, enemies employ armor, so shoot them in the head they die easy!

body armor would be useless if it didnt help stop bullets, lol!

I found killing very easy, just have a good aim, shoot where it matters.

being realistic does not play to a spray n pray tactic

Edit: even on the hardest setting, i found it no sweat, chuck norris style fisty beats to the enemies and flinging them 20 metres by lobbing a plant pot at them is amusing, or punching thru a hut coating the enemy in corrugated iron is also funny.

I like the realism, the enemies dive to the floor, you think you have owned them, then they snake crawl around a rock and start firing again.

I did see a funny moment, a banana got stuck part way thru a set of drawers, and the chain reaction of vibration following pulled down the hut

I love the way the game plays! I spent at least 4 hours last night figuring out different ways to kill people. I'm going to put together a list of different ways to kill in this game. I even noticed some cool things the designers put in like hidden logs and such up on hills in foliage. After finding one of these places it took one gernade thrown up at the hill to take out four N. Koreans. I wonder how North Korea feels about this game? Kim Jong Li is probablly awesome at this game on his supercomputer made out of his peoples brains. Ok, anyways, can't wait for Crysis to be released, and hopefully we'll see some performance improvements by that time. I also can't wait for a reasonable system that can run this thing on max settings. The graphics blow me away in the way HL2 did. Is the beta multiplayer still going on?

I completely agree. My first run I employed a "shoot everything and often" tactic that didn't work well at all. Head shots is where it's at. Use that silencer!!!

I love the gameplay. Now, just to master it and not sux0r! LOL....

I need more RAM for the game though, I get a couple laggy hiccups once in a while but 1024x768 on medium30-35fps aint too bad for right now.

Wish there was a more realistic in the since how many times they can be shot. Demo was way easy on Normal but i'm sure it get much harder later HA!...

I guess it's more as i love the more realistic FPS like OFP \Arma\GR. I'll enjoy this game all the same as it's not ment to be 100% realistic but still find it a little annoying.

Well, i saw the armor, but after taking half a mag of 7.62ers to your chest armor usually takes you out. It just seems like the bullets are bouncing of the armor, redirecting ALL of the energy... that isn't realistic at all... You can barely breath after taking only one 7.62 bullet to your body armor, suffering at least a damaged rib...

And "shoot where it matters" would be easy if the rifles would shoot where you are aiming at, which seems to happen pretty inconstantly.

Visuals and general controls is all I like. Enemies are smart, but their almost inhuman. I've unloaded a full clip and not taken an enemy down, almost like they have a super version of your own suit :\ shooting them in the legs helps though, they dont have armour there :p Even doing that though, they dont act like their wounded :wtf:

.. they certainly do not have a super suit. I shoot em in the shoulder, once in chest and another and they are mangled on the floor, well, pretty crippled and dead. you really must not be aiming all too well...

granted when they ARE shot they appear to be either off their face on coke or pcp as their constitution is somewhat off the scale, but their bodies do react accordingly.

Shoot em in the sholder and they spin the correct way, shoot em in the back and they tend to fly forwards to the ground, or at least stumble a fair bit.
pop em in the head, their hat flies off, with plenty of blood. no exit wounds tho..

and dead turtles have a floppy head and are immune to grenades, maybe thats what the enemies are armoring themselves with :p

I'm aiming fine, shooting them where they have no armour. Like I'll shoot one in the leg while hes running and its like I didnt shoot him at all, he will keep running, not pause in pain or start to hobble :wtf:

I agree with Ket here. You can pump anyone full with a full clip with the FY71 in close range and they just don't die. Armour in it's finest, but I find it a bit annoying. But then, I've messed up if I ever get that close. FY71+assault scope makes a fine weapon for everything. :)

And I wonder why there's like a million different threads all about Crysis? :wtf:

Seems we're getting conflicting reports on whether there's any sort of ragdoll physics in that shooting an enemy in a particular spot on the body determines a particular reaction, but I've yet to see anything exceptional in that regard. I.e. a shot in the knee caps brings them to their knees. Now and again they might lower their stance, but I think that's more to do with their evasion scripting rather than 'oh shit that hurt' scripting.

For all the physics it's supposed to exemplify, nothing about the AI screamed 'next gen' to me.

I agree that the headshots are the way to go, I mean, that's gotta be a DUH! Unless you were trying to incapacitate them rather than kill them, but who does that often :)?

The thing about the armour is that it IS a tad too strong. I don't care who you are, no amount of body armour will stop a 7.62 bullet at five, ten or even probably fifty feet, it will pierce and if it doesn't penetrate your sternum it will knock you down whether from the sheer energy or the excruciating blunt trauma pain.

I don't know what it is about game developers but something leads me to believe they've never been shot (hopefully haha) or even handled an assault rifle/weapon. They also can't seem to grasp the concept of where they place the weapon when you're using iron sights, it's offset way too far forward, but hell at least they give you iron sight option in this game. Reflex sights are for newbs :)

Anyone been messing around with shooting vehicle tires? I've been trying to get them to chase me with a vehicle but they tend to just sit there, one shooting, the other one in the driver's seat like he's chillin' listening to some bootlegged copy of Sanitarium from Metallica while the other guy pummels me with bullets. How in the hell is a SAW style vehicle turret more accurate(without scope..) at one hundred yards, then my bloody SCAR? Argh.

My new funny moment was hanging around the docks and this guy started taking a leak off the side. At first I was like ...wtf is he..oh HAHAH! He was totally spraying, he musta pissed for a good fourty seconds before I finally retired him. Next time I'm going to sneak up and grab him, and see if he suddenly stops peeing or makes a mess everywhere.

@Frick

Ya, there's becoming an abundance of the Crysis threads. I started the two of this one and the one concerning glitches/bugs like a support thread. The other ones are just redundant copies of download locations that really need to be cropped, snipped and compounded.

I accidentally pressed G twice when i was supposed to press F... I ended up being "GG'ed" LITERALLY ... Yeah terrible placement of grenade function...

Anyway very mad game, and original as well. I love the power suit's capailities XD. (Destroys a whole villiage with nades).

EDIT: I HATE IT HOW I CANT KILL THE ENEMY BY SHOOTING THEIR LEGS T_T... Seriously wasted one whole clip, just shooting at the guys legs, I was like "DIE MAN DIE..." Its pretty realistic :D

Hehe. Damn that cloak bs. I feel like the damned Predator moving about the jungle.

I'm sticking to my bush tactics!

One thing that's kept me confused is that when I have an enemy clutched by the throat, sometimes when I proceed to use the melee attack, I will hit him in the face and he's done. Yet other times, it will just swipe a melee attack into open air. If I could figure out how to determine which one is which, the latter could make for some funny moments where you have three enemies to deal with. Grab one, punch another while using his body as a shield from the third, then throw the first at the third, block his vision, go cloak, then sneak up on him.

Convulted I know, but I'm stretching here!

I have to say though, that this game is just another nice reminder of how awesome using a Zfang game board pad (the standalone, not the full keyboard) and a multiple button mouse like the Deathadder can be. Everything is so comfortable and never out of buttons or out of reach.

The thought of playing with a standard keyboard or worse, one with default application controls seems like something out of the darkages at this point.

I went nuts and completely destroyed an small hut with my bare hands, while knocking down all the trees around it. I then drove an 4x4 into it and blew it up, sending debris flying everywhere, while the sun rose over some extremely beautifully shaded water. It was one of the most awe inspiring moments in my FPS gaming history, apart from a fair handful of moments in Half Life 2.

I'm actually still playing Episode 2, I love the car moments. It's kinda pathetic how the V8 sounds better in EP2, than some of the racing games currently on the market :)

Fax, have you tried the 'move' that we all saw time and time again in the E3 shows? Where the guy speed jumps onto a roof top and crashes through, toppling enemies beneath?
