Crytek's first person shooter game, Crysis, has been reported for selling over 1 million copies in less than three month during the Electronic Arts third quarter earnings conference call yesterday. Even though the game has gone platinum, CEO John Riccitiello said that EA is "not satisfied" with the overall third quarter financial results. The company was disappointed that none of the big successes were developed internally. "We did not have any internally developed breakaway titles," said Riccitiello. "The closest thing we had to breakaway titles in 2007 were Skate and FIFA," he continued. Riccitiello expects Burnout Paradise to be another big hit, but he didn't give any more indications than that at this early stage in the game's shelf life.

PC gaming is far from dead, and games like Crysis are just helping the PC in a very competive console world. However, I still believe the PC gaming market is turning into an MMO world. :ohwell:

All EA does is make games that are crap. I'll say that they have a few titles including Crysis (which they only published to my knowledge) to be decent games. However, I'll give EA props for being one of, if not the largest game publishing company in the world. But that doesn't mean they have to be all lax now that they are top dog in an industry that looks at them as just money hungry mongrels.

I thought it was selling poorly, but im glad I heard wrong. This will help the PC as game station. I dont think PC is dying in Europe, Asia and other parts of the world. The only place where consoles are killing the PC is in the U.S. Hopefully, as americans are supposed to be tech nerds, they will come around and support PC once more?? :)

Sure I agree that EA has made its blunders, but in the recent year/s they have proven that they want to make good games and also improved the support for games they released before. Just look at games as Skate and others. skate is a superb game, best skating game ever made. But sure im still sceptical about EA, so they have to keep getting better and better.

The 2 biggest things to help the PC gaming market in my opinion are Blizzard and Valve. However the problem with Valve, is that they let EA be their publisher and now their games (which used to be PC exclusives) are now console ports (and crappy ones at that). EA ruins good developers in my opinion.

EA is big business meets good developers with a passion for games, which then in turn makes bad games.

The biggest thing hurting the PC gaming market is big business publishers like EA. I wouldn't be surprised if we see World of Warcraft on the PS3 and Xbox 360 soon.

None of the big successes were developed internally. Gee, I wonder why that is? Perhaps if you would make a DECENT GAME it would be successful. Crysis rocks, I am not the least bit surprized that it sold so much.

I am sooo happy that Crysis sold over a million copies, though having followed the European charts it comes as no surprise.

I can't wait for part 2 to be released.
