Yes, even av apps can cause stutter, try tabbing out of the game, and bring up taskman and see what's using what....

I tried Crysis with VSync on today and I got the same effect as you got, while playing, frames stayed dead on 30. If I looked in the ground, they would go up toward 50 or so and then come down to 30 again.

Maybe you have VSync on from somewhere.

It sounds like he has too much junk running in the background, which is causing the problem. But he only has this issue with Crysis, so who knows what is going on.

I wonder if his CPU and GPU is OC
