2142, DEFINATELY. CS:S can only dissapoint you with all the hackers. BF2142 has a very nice ranking/awards system.

Almost forgot, you can respawn in BF2142

I vote 2142 as well. Only tough thing in 2142 is you start out with NOTHING and its difficult to make points. First unlock at 40 points, so you're not waiting forever, but there are like 32 unlocks...great game though...

I prefer CS:S. The Battlefield 1942 series was the only good Battlefield series IMO. Everything after that was ridiculous. Guess it just depends on what type of games you like to play.

Also, BF 2142 is a cool game...However, it's really way too easy to play lol. The only challenge in the game is getting the new ranks, which isn't really even a challenge because all you do is kill people who are easy to kill (Every BF game seems to make it very easy to play.).

Well, I wouldn't say that. The entire interface was changed from the ground up, and looks much better now. Besides that, the gameplay as a whole was changed. Play 1.6 for 5 years and then goto CS:S, big changes...I can't say that they are for better or worse though.

The developers made it much easier to kill people, so for a person like me who came from a long span of 1.6 I get pissed when someone kills me in source (in a way that would have never happened in 1.6). The way they made it easier is the headshot zones and critical zones were increased. Also, spraying your weapon doesn't effect your accuracy as much as it used to.

On the other hand, by doing this they pretty much leveled the playing field for new and old users. However, the older users who play source for a long time will eventually become very good as they were before; while sucking at 1.6 (that's how different the gameplay is).

EDIT: They also added tons of new animations and sounds!
