Facts, what facts? Based on what? How can you not be a fanboy when you haven't provided one iota of information to accommodate the "facts" you post?

i recon he is correct.. ati are leading nvidia are looking at what they are planning (spies) then making sure their offering beats it..

they did exactly this with 8800gt.. out of time and out of place till it became obvious has to its purpose.. torpedo the planned ati 3700 range...

its the down side of playing the first card.. the other team know exactly what to beat.. nvdia have the money to do just this.. and its what they do..

it will be a kludge compared to the properly planned ati x2 but it will out perform it..

Well, don't be. It's purely designed to outperform the 3870X2 and it will do just that.

Note : I'm not a fan neither of nvidia nor ati, just stating facts.

I doubt it! crossfire scales better than sli in vista, plus it will be cheaper.

Nope. Current gen CrossFire has shown to be more efficient than SLI. It's a superior multi-GPU technology. You can tell by the card design. NVidia had to make a hot black sandwich to counter this, R680. Just because you see a single PCB and two finny fans don't underestimate this, it looks sexier with the stock-cooler and Ruby on it. :D

That said, wait for the 'facts' to roll out, you don't have any concrete ones as of now.

The problem with that is that it didn't work with the 3800 series. You can agree with him all you like but until there some actual proof it's just baseless and pointless. All you see right now is Nvidia countering what ATI is doing.

bull shit this is another gimmick card okay a multi core gpu would be cool or a totaly new gpu that is fast as fuck hmmn they need to start putting more ram and a bigger bus on cards as well

ati/amd dont want to do another 3dfx and die coz of their crappy schemes at least if nvidias scheme bombs it will have money to make up for it

ati just need a decent card for a change i mean the 3870 is all well but it should have been the original 2900 imo

nvidia just disappoint me maybe those engineers they got from 3dfx when it died got promoted and they decided that they would make a modern day voodoo 5 then ati said well were going down lets see if we can make a modern day voodoo 5

you missed the most important:

Holy cow... Crossfire FTW... SLi only brings a small increase... while this is... more than small. You guys must remember that crossfire has gone through a revamp already this version is far more efficient in comparison to before... SLI doesn't even give this kind of performance boost-even with the 8800s. The thing I see is that these cards wont be very expensive, one PCB being the main reason why and the fact that each core runs cool means that the cooling won't be too expensive to manufacture. The 9800... is TWO PCBs... literally two 8800GTs stuck together, manufacturing costs are much heavier, as well as the difficulty to cool them sufficiently, also remember that SLi isnt as efficient. Guys, I think AMD has won the dual GPU war before it even begins :p.

See, if it ends up cheaper than an ultra/GTX, imagine two of these in crossfire! Another advantage of having two cores is the fact that you can install two cooling solutions which will do well. Not one large and hunky one on one core, etcetera. The thing I would like to see is a long strip of plastic/metal running accross the edge of the PCB just to keep it in shape... honestly. I think all GPU manufacturers should Install those on all the long PCB GPUs...

it worked brilliantly.. it would have been aint ati wonderfull giving us this new cheap super value for money high performing card..

enter the rushed out.. specially prepared and priced torpedo 8800gt just before the ati launch.. perfectly timed.. perfectly executed..

it became the ati card is okay but not as fast as the 8800gt.. an absolutely brilliant piece of skulduggery..

My money is saved... by the looks of those crossfire numbers, the 3870x2 should OWN! X38 and one of these!

Time will tell how well this card and the 9800's perform. I could really care less about the 3DMark scores...lemme know how they do in games! I want to see both in action, and will hopefully sooner than later...not that I'd pay that much for either card...I don't need that much power for 1440x900 lol!

I hope both cards are competetive, or competetively priced as has been the current trend. I like to see more even matches between both companies as this drives business for both, good deals for us both in price and performance and keeps things going. When it was the 8800 vs the 1950's it was just sad. Granted I've enjoyed both my 1950's...I do look forward to AMD/ATI pushing forward and NVidea keeping them on their toes. That's how I see it...NV has the weapons to release, AMD/ATI is trying new things, different strategies, and will eventually have their crown again..

If both companies don't swap as the top dog the industry get's boring imo. I plan on a 3870 this round, but yet have had an ATI card since my 9600 replaced my GF2 MX440...but I am eye-ing the 8800GT's also...my only issue is the 8800's rate of falure and issues in comparison to the 3870's. Great, so you get some more performance at a very comparable price, yet...it could fail instantly on top of other issues...though results seem to vary. Not dogging the 8800's, and it seems to have cleared up with newer cards...so let's hope the trend continues as I wouldn't mind either one replacing my 1950xtx. I want to have a harder time choosing between which next-gen card should fit that spot though...so c'mon NV and ATI! It's getting better!

I was merely comparing the companies. I know that there is no way that AMD can buy Nvidia. I am sure even Intel wont be allowed to buy Nvidia. There's no need to get technical.

Wow, this is completely deja-vu for me. This feels like the Voodoo 5500 all over again!

It's a Rage Fury Maxx all over again. ;)

i bought another mobo just to go crossfire with two 3870 cards.. which in essence is what this new thing is..

i bought based on website "figures" or benchmarks.. it took me about three days to decide "real life" crossfire was a waste of space.. my second 3870 card and the mobo went on ebay.. i now run just the one card..

soooo.. if drivers or whatever it needs to make this thing go better than two cards in crossfire dont happen.. it too will be a waste of space..

i hope not cos i would like to buy one.. he he he

trog

ps.. mind u with the "crossfire on a stick" as someone called it.. one card solution.. there aint so much "space" wasted.. he he
